Hormonal behavior?

Recently (as in the last few days) Lizzy my GCC has been regurgitating for me and backing up into my hand with her tail feathers raised. Am I right in thinking these are mating behaviors?

Also, I really don't want to encourage these behaviors so when she does them I either set her on the floor for a minute, or redirect her to do the tricks she's learned. Is this the right thing to do?

When I first got her, I was petting down her back and on her wings. But then I learned not to do that and she only gets head scratches. I was only doing the full body petting for a month maybe. And I've had her for almost a year. My fault on that much but at least I corrected it.

Apparently Lizzy was quick to pick up on your petting messages before your belated attempt at correction, so it may be a little late to worry about Lizzy's hormones, but you may be able to slow her enthusiasm down a little.....limit handling her to bare minimums and by limiting her seed & nut consumption, limiting or temporarily stopping any high protein foods and/or pellets and feed more fresh fruits & green veggies.....

Good luck.....

She has been getting more seeds lately. A friend of mine just lost their Sunday (20 years old. He'd been sick for a while and they knew it was coming :( ) so she gave me some of their leftover food. Which included a golden feast seed/nut mix. Normally I have to avoid nuts because of a close friend's allergies, but since she moved to another state I've been adding them back in.

So she's been getting about a tsp of that mix in a treat bowl once daily (she's always gotten seed mix in her foraging toys, but never as much as she does now). Plus her pelleted food that is constantly available. Plus the fresh food I make that she gets 2x daily. I did notice the behavior shortly after I added in the new food about a week and a half ago. And this behavior has been happening for about 4 days.

I can cut out the new food. And limit the pellets, just mainly offering her fresh stuff. See how that works.

Limiting handling will be hardest to do lol. She's my little gaming buddy :) but I don't want to reinforce this more than I already have.

Little bit of info on her
She's 5 (as far as I'm aware)
I am her 3rd home. The people I got her from were trying to breed her with their male GCC but she was never interested. She was on an all seed diet with them but I got her switched over to pellets and fresh foods.
If I'm home she's out of her cage. She gets lots of time on her playstand plus a few hours of one on one with either me or my wife (only does the mating behaviors with me though).

Ive got a hormonal Alexandrine parrot and these are the things that my research has lead me to believe may help: 14 hours quiet, dark, covered sleep per night (this simulates winter which means its not time to get out her breeding behaviours). Cut down on excess fatty and carby foods (he gets his needed amounts of pellet food and fresh fruit and veges but no corn or grapes atm which seem to signal an over abundance of food which, obviously, would be a good time to think about breeding). No touching the bird outside the head area (stroking the wings and back simulates mating which we obviously arent going to follow through on and so end up with a frustrated parrot!).

We dont limit handling, in fact, we're doing the opposite. Tach gets as much time out of the cage, flying around, burning off energy as we can give him; we want to keep him busy and keep his mind off breeding so we have him out but instead of just letting him do what he wants, we are having a more 'structured' playtime -teaching tricks (wave, shake, turn around, etc) to keep his mind focused and occupied.

I like the idea of more structured playtime. Should be easy enough to do. She loves learning new tricks :)
