Getting young bird back in cage

Hello :)
I have an alexandrine that loves to be out of his cage. He's only a couple of months old. I feel hesitant to want to get him out as its getting really tricky to get him back in. He hates getting back in. I have to gently place my hand over him walking towards the cage so he doesn't fly off. Then when putting him in he scrambles to try and stay out. I have read that I can try training with treats but my bird will not take any treats from my hand. Praise doesn't seem to be on his high priority list either. I'm stuck... the only thing I can think that will work if I spend lots of time with him out of the cage and walking by it and playing near it (because as soon as we're near it he wants to get away as quickly as he can) and putting him in and out but not shutting him in. I'm imagining it will be time intensive..! What do you think? If anyone has some tips I'd be so grateful. I'm just starting to read a book about parrot behaviour to learn more as I'm new to this.
Thanks...

I wish I had answers for you. My tiel wants to sleep with me every night. I don't know what else todo either so I just make him go back. Treats don't work with him either.

I have a few of those birds as well, you give them a treat, they just drop it. Or if they're eating it but I'm walking towards their cage, they drop everything. I ended up start to trick them back inside, I start talking to them to get their full attention then making funny sounds, sing to them, rub their head, etc. Then while playing rub I have their head covered with my hand then in they go. But one way to get them to always want to go back is I never give treats, feed, or whatever outside of their cage, they eventually want to go back inside so they can eat and drink.
