Ebbs & flows regarding energy

Perjo is 16 weeks old, and everything has gone great so far. I have started to notice a bit of a pattern in her daily activity levels. We wake up at 7:30ish, she starts eating her new bowl of food, with minimal treats. We go back n forth with noises for about 40 minutes after she eats. Around 10am she seems to find a place to just sit in quiet. An hour or so later, she up and eating and full of energy. Come 1pm she's yawning and napping, come 2pm she's garbling up a storm.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Is this up & down energy level a common thing for young birds, or bird in general regardless of age?

It's normal for any bird. Mine usually have their longest naptimes during the afternoon, although they all have up and down periods throughout the day. Then some of them are more energetic than others. Even the more energetic ones have down times (thank goodness lol).

...and she's managed to somehow coax me into allowing her to sit on my shoulder now. I've been adamant about not letting her do that since day one, all of a sudden she somehow maneuvers her way up there with my approval.

Little stinker.

Man I don't know how I'd keep salty off my shoulder, it would not be worth the agro to handle him if I tryied. He is well behaved so I am not worried. Perjo sounds like a nice bird. Wait, the personality develops much more in the coming months. Enjoy the 'baby' months.

Sissy is the same way..certain times of the day..she is up and ready to go..then she's not. I don't allow her on my shoulder..she already thinks she runs this home..lol..but she has moments where her terrible twos shows.man are they tough .

Not only does Perjo assume my shoulder as her perch now, she whistles while up there and HOLY CRAP does my ear ring. This little 16 week old, what 27 ounces ?, has a set of lunges in her. I have to be careful b/c it is loud enough to damage my inner ear.

I have to laugh at myself, she weighs under 16 ounces, that was my rookie bird owner showing through months ago.
