I found out something interesting. Rio will step up only if I offer my right hand. Today morning I walked past his cage with a plate of mangoes and he called out "Come here" . I held my left hand to step up he promptly bit me on my knuckles , it hurt so I firmly said No biting and offered my right hand . He stepped up without any fuss.
After he made a mess eating the mangoes I put him on top of his cage and asked him to step up on my left hand. He refused but right hand and no problems.
I then realised most of the 'step up' bites were on my left hand
Not that it is an issue but is it a common behaviour?
