I have two peachfaced lovebirds. They where puten together when they where small childs. 1 man and 1 female. I can see that they realy love eachother. They fooding each other help each other with things and problems like, when the other one wants the first to fix the feathers on the unreachable neck. They sleep together and iv seen them mating too. But sometimes, and this have been on going since i got them nearly a year ago. The yellow (She) suddenly attacks the green one (him). You may see some differense in their attitude before it. The green one is being shy for ex. It happens that the green one moves too another perch and the yellow follows. The green does not seem to like this and moves away again, the yellow folows so on so on. Untill the yellow one somehow makes the greens trapped or something and than they will start to fly around on the botom of the cage. The yellow is hunting the green. By the way the yellow one is the dominant one. The yellow one chaises the green until HE comes away. Then they stop and in 30min they are soooo nice to each other again. But yesterday when the yellow was down in the "nest" the green one folowed, i was in the kitchen i suddenly hear them scream and flapping etc. And like the green one always do, he sreams a reapetive sound like he is hurt. I run in and see that she is biting him in the neck and the green screams franticly much. She was holding him hard on his neck and he could not move, he just screamed that hurt noise. I sort of panic and hit the cage so they stop. I take out the green one be with him in the kitchen for some minutes and than he strangely want back too the cage. After that they where like a perfect pair again. What is the problem?!!?! HELP!!

Being that they are siblings and male and female, they can still successfully mate. I recommend you separate them but put them in cages near each other for company.

No, they are not siblings. The yellow was bought and the green was born in the cage. And i know how they panic without eachother. They can not take to not be in the same cage. I tested it.

Can't live with her...can't live without her. Been there, done that. Just kidding. If you don't want to separate them, perhaps a larger cage. Give them a little more room to be separated but still together.

Target training?! How do you do that. I have finger tamed them, atleast so i can pick them up outside the cage. But how do you target train the yellow to not be mad at the green ~ones a week

Larger cage and remove 'nest'. Lovebirds are well known for being extremely sweet during the first 6 months/a year then, if they are not handled a lot, they can get quite aggressive. The problem might be territory.

Sounds to me like they need the nest to be removed. The nest is causing hormonal frustration, and the female is being affected the most. She seems to be taking her frustration out on him.

I greatly apologise if this question becomes too mature for the younger viewers, but I'll do my best to keep it family-friendly. My question is, does she insist on mating with him and he refuses? Birds will often get frustrated if their companion does not cooperate with them, leading to fights. Closely observing their behavior and reporting it to us will help us pinpoint the problem more precisely.

Like i said: They have been mating several times, nowtimes. Do you think i am some stress factor for them?!? And yes the green (HE) is sometimes more shy and sometimes not. They offen sleep i the nest place both of them. But you can still see that she is dominating that area. Thank you very much for showing interest!!

Mating does NOT mean eggs! Why, only this morning I watched my budgies Lexi and Chubba Chubs mating. They are siblings and only 6 months old! My budgies mate ALL the time. No eggs.

Ok, just asked how long time it takes until i can see the eggs IF ANY EGGS, so i know if they get any or not, if i should remove the nest now, or if i should wait. But thanks

Not possitive for budgies but I would think just a few days after mating the hen should begin laying if conditions are right.

Best of luck to you. I hope there aren't any more quarrels between your lovebirds.
Just monitor them carefully.

AFTERREPORT:
So, i waited a 3 days and just when i wanted to take away the nest:
They got an egg!! :D
SO, now im waiting for more egg tomorow and hopefully the day after tomorow too.
The yellow (she) is much callmer know since she got her egg and its working all fine. The green goes down and feeds her and there does not seem to be any unwanted tension between them.
Thank you all, i will comeback and write aboit my two lurvy lovebird friends and hopefully i will anwer a few questions too. Im proud hehe :)
