My Amazon Buddy is notorious for pitching a screaming fit when he wants food. Mainly when I have food he wants. His fit is a high pitched, loud scream he repeats until he gets what he wants or gives up, lol.

Now my new little sound box Buzz (CAG), has decided Buddy's fits are great sounds but instead of throwing a Buddy fit because he wants food, he throws them just because he loves the sound, lol.

What sounds do your fids make that you wish they hadn't learned? Here's Buddy begging for tortilla chips which he can't have.

How can you deny that whatever tasty treat you have:p?

Kiwi says f-you. I wish he'd forget that! He came knowing that one and uses it in context:( At least he doesn't say it frequently, but if you make him mad enough he tells you what he thinks! Saddest part is, he really isn't a talker so that being one of the only things he says is just infuriating (that someone said that enough times to him he learned it that is!).

P.S. What is that awesome looking toy Buddy has there by his dish? Inquiring blue fronts want to know:green:

Surrender, Tracey! How can you say no to Buddy?

Poppy gets impatient after I pick up bowls for their evening meal, the rest of the flock follows her example so they get louder and louder until I return with with filled bowls, by the time I'm finished washing their dishes and preparing their food it sounds like a riot. Then at least one of them usually launches a few veggies at me.

April, Harry still uses the f bomb occasionally and in context. I agree, it's really sad to think how that particular expletive was taught.

We have an old Sheltie that whines a lot. Whines to be let out. Whines to be let in. Whines to be fed. Whines for fresh water. Dog whines a lot, and it's at the world' second most annoying volume and pitch.

Of course, Monty now loves to whine the same way, just for amusement. Surprised he hasn't picked up "Shut up, Waffles!" yet.

LOL they sure do love to bang just to hear the noise - metal on metal is the best. Gracie bangs anything & everything - including her door against the cage while she's perched on it. Only time she stops is when I try to capture it on video - me thinks she doesn't want documented proof :) I'll admit I am guilty of laughing when she does it cuz well it cracks me up lol so I know I'm encouraging the behavior but man it's funny when she gets her Grey on.

Months ago I would have said mimicking the dogs squeaky toys.
She does it perfectly. Although they are reallly well trained/behaved & don't mess with her now in the beginning it would really get there attention & concerned me a lot that they'd see her as a toy.

What really bothers me the most tho -
When she gets super loud (which is fine with us we encourage her to be a parrot & parrot-out when the urge hits - not to get her way/attention - just to sound off & be happy) but she still sometimes follows up with combinations of "No.. Stop it.. G'damn it.. shut up... bad bird .. be quiet .. stupid bird... you're gonna get it".. left over phrases from previous homes. She also does sounds like crashing & and eerie broken glass sound before & after she says them. Almost always associated with her being loud, banging, throwing food etc.

What amazes me is that she was repeatedly re-homed for not "talking" like Greys are "suppose" to yet clearly was discouraged from vocalizing.
Stupid bird? Nah.. Stupid people? You betcha

Amazon's as a group and likely other parrots tie rapidly into our emotions.

Nothing like a heated discussion to get their attention and for them to join in! When connected to specific words (F-bomb as an example) the original and ongoing discussion that the word(s) was part garners their attention and when repeated i.e. the emotion generated by the word(s) only goes to reinforcing it. Its difficult not to react when confronted with the 'word,' and when dropped in context it is even more difficult.

Julio our DYH Amazon dropped it on the drive back home this past Monday. Traffic was heavy with some Stop and Go from time to time. He was busy with one of his favored toys when traffic quickly stopped. With one foot on the toy, the other on the branch and the beak working the toy, he fell the short couple of inches from the perch to the floor of the travel cage. Once he had gotten back-up - he dropped the bomb! First time we had heard it from him. A couple of Humans with funny faces trying to hold back any response and one very frustrated Amazon!

I never thought of it like that but you make perfect sense.

I'll bet!! I'll admit the visual you drew had me chuckling & I wasn't there. I've made Gracie slip a time or two when I'm driving I usually get told to "stop it" or she'll ask to go outside now lol which may be code for "get away from you lady".

That's sometimes the hardest part for me - remembering to control MY responses.

Would you believe those are Dollar Tree toy cooking utensils? They came in a pack of 8 so I strung 4 on a zip tie for Buddy and 4 on a zip tie for Venus. I loved them because of the colors and they play with them. Buddy mainly attacks his, he loves playing rough.

I'm very lucky because none of my birds have cursed yet. When I took Buddy for his first vet visit he was like a Walmart greeter saying "Hello!" to everyone, lol. After the vet toweled him, examined him, and trimmed his nails, he released Buddy and asked me if he curses. Buddy was recovering on the table saying "Woo woo!" Over and over like Costello, lol. I told the vet I didn't know but we may find out right now, lol. So far no bombs!

Whoever came up with "eats like a bird" didn't know birds. Buddy is a pig and I know his precious owner fed him lots of junk food. Last week I was eating some Cheez-It crackers and Buddy let me know he wanted some. I gave him one and he sounded like a buzz saw devouring every bit. Today's snack was Texas Caviar which is black and norther beans, corn, tomato, onion, avocado and Italian dressing. I eat it on tortilla chips. Too much salt and too many bad foods for him but I did give him a popcorn nutraberry and he was happy, lol.

I can't picture Harry dropping F-bombs, lol.

You guys are gonna hate me, but there is nothing that I wish Salty would unlearn. Oh, wait. He nibbles on my tablet cover when he sits on it. But if that's the cost to have him sit quietly, and get scratches, you know what? Let him chew up a dozen covers. Salty is just a good boy.

You can never have enough tablet covers. Husband and I are nerds and buy tablet covers, and change them out like a wardrobe, lol!!!

Our Otange Winged Amazon, Slater, came to us with a different name. My daughter rescued him from a garage sale for $100. He had been living in a cage not even big enough for 2 budgies for 7 years, and his family always went to their house at the lake in the summer and left him behind, only stopping in to feed him a couple of times a week. His name? They called him A$$h*&e.

Of course he knew his name when he joined our flock, and very soon so did all the other birds in the room. It was lovely to walk into the bird room first thing in the morning and be greeted with a chorus of Hello A$$H*&e!
Thankfully, Slater soon learned his new name and quit saying it, and the other birds stopped as well. We only hear it occasionally now. I much prefer the Hello Pretty Bird and Peek a Boo I receive as a greeting now:)

His Mug Shot:)

Ok Slater's backstory - so sad & maddening thank goodness he landed with you. I can't fathom what is wrong with people sometimes.

Your story however had me cracking up - what a good morning mom! LOL sorry that's just too funny of a visual.

I just love his mug shot !

So far my conure is not noisy like. Your post reminded me of my dogs. They learn so much from each other. Social animals are the best most of the time. But when they are together watchout.
