Parrots
Browned Headed - Sam 2 years old :)
Hello Everyone,

I'm going to be getting another addition to my family. In a few weeks, I will be picking up a Ruppell's parrot. The Ruppell's will be 3-4 months old by that time. She is a female and will be coming home to meet my brown headed.

So anyone have any good/proven methods that helped them get their current birds interacting with the new guy?

My brown headed is very attached and single person. However, my friends bring their birds over 1-2 a week depending and she interacts with them perfectly fine. (Amazon, Senegal)

Thoughts? Cages in the same room?

Brad

Hi Brad and welcome!! Congrats on your new baby! I love Ruppell Parrots. The females are especially gorgeous. And, brown heads are number three on my most favorite list. I use to breed them. I have a good friend that breeds Ruppells. Where are you getting your baby from?
It is important to kep your baby quarantined from your other bird for 30-60 days. A closed bedroom, block the airvent, make sure you wash well before handling your BH.
I think after quarantine it would be great if they could be in the same room. The comfort of having another bird is very important. It will take time and patience for them to accept each other. Since your BH welcomes other birds that is a good sign. Being that they are both of the Poi family, it may make things easier. I can't wait to see pics of your beautiful baby!
