1 YNA (Bingo)
1 OWA (Plumas R.I.P.)
1 RLA (Pacho R.I.P.)
2 GCA(Luna,Merlin) The Twins
1 Congo AG (Bella)
5 Cockatiels
Over the years we have taught our YNA to say many things.
“I want to be alone”
“I love LA” like the song.
“tequero Wesley” (we are a bi-lingual family)
“guantanamera” (song in Spanish).
Just to name a few. Because these are not things we say on a regular basis he does not say them anymore, except …. Every once in a blue moon my Bingo will start to say one of them. It’s a real surprise to hear something you think he has forgotten come out of that mouth er.. beak.
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this with there birds.

1 BFA- Kiwi. Hatch circa 98', forever home with us Dec. 08'
Kiwi doesn't talk really, but his eyes go nuts and he starts making all kinds of gurgling noises when hubby speaks or sings to him in Spanish (he's bi-lingual, but doesn't really speak in Spanish much because I don't really speak it fluently). He also enjoys the music, one of the stations we used to put on for him when we both worked during the day was a Spanish station. We think his original owners must've been Spanish speakers. It's interesting what they remember. I think parrots don't really get enough credit for having very long term memories!

The Rickeybird, 38-year-old Patagonian Conure
The Rbird says anywhere from 15-25 things at any one time. Over the years the phrases and names change, along with the songs. He will sometimes revive something I thought was long lost. Some things never come back, to my knowledge. Most striking is that he loved Paula Abdul in the 90s, and learned little snips of her songs (I have always left a pop music channel on in his room; he loves the singing and dancing). He imitated one Kelly Clarkson song around 2005 Then he discovered Jennifer Lopez, and now sings his versions of "Booty" and a few other of her hits. I do find it interesting that he picks out specific voices (or booties???) that interest him.
