Ziggy has been pretty much cage bound since we got him. He has started to step up occasionally when I press the issue. But I don't want to push it too much so it's been about once a week. Three days ago he did a different scream, not his angry, not "someone's here" and while sitting in a different spot. So when I checked on him and went to pet him, he stepped up. I took him out and he spent about half an hour out of the cage before he flew back. He did that twice that day and both days since. I really want him to come out and it's great that he's finally making progress but my concern is its going to become a screaming habit when he wants mom to come get him, even though his cage is always open. Any thoughts?

I dont have much experience with taming but I would like to say wow, he looks almost fake. I havent seen many Nansun hybrids but none that I have seen were so perfectly balanced and beautiful. It almost looks like a conure fischers lovebird hybrid. I would think to try to have him step up when quiet and ignore him when screaming but wait for someone with more experience with that.

Yay Ziggy sounds like he's settled in. I would try getting him to step up when quiet and giving him a treat when he does it.

Ignoring the screaming is hard but like you rightly said you don't want to encourage it.

Looking forward to hearing how he gets on :)
