It's never "for no reason"

My Blue Headed Pionus Mel has started attacking me "for no reason." "She suddenly hates me." If I didn't believe firmly that there is always a reason, I might have my feelings hurt. Instead I've looked closely; what has changed? Is she sick? Have I done something? Well...
She has a good diet
She has lots of clean water and sunlight
Her recent vet visit was clean
She isn't bored; she is cage free and has plenty to keep her occupied...

But something else in her behavior has changed... hmm... she isn't playing with her toys; she has been ignoring them to wander the house instead... hiding under furniture... ohh...

Spring time...
Finding dark places...
Biting FEET...

Not "no reason," BREEDING SEASON! Hormonal girl wants babies and wants me to stay away from her nest!

Now that I have that figured out I can take specific action to reduce her hormonal urges as much as I can (though we do most of these things already) and keep my toes out of her way until she calms down.

There is always a reason. This time it was easy to figure out, it isn't always, but there IS always a reason.

By the way, her inamorato is the cat. He does not return her feelings. Her nest is under my favorite chair, and she is extremely upset that I have now blocked it off. Here is a pic of her after she chomped on me this morning!

So true, Dani. There is always a reason. Sometimes a little more detective work is required than others, but there is always a reason.

I agree, I do agree. There's always a reason!

Maybe if it happens just once, it's a mysterious reason, but if it's a pattern... there's a (hopefully) discernible reason.

We can't always find the reason, and sometimes the reason is something that happened decades before; in not saying we always know why it happens lol
