Insecure?

Can parrot become insecure? I ask this because starting a few days ago when I got Lincoln's beak and nails trimmed he has been a lot more defensive. He doesn't like to step-up much anymore and when I offer my arm / hand to him he just backs away or sometimes in rare cases lunges at me. The times when he does successfully nip me he doesn't bite hard, at all really. It doesn't break skin or leave a mark of any kind. I get the feeling he doesn't wanna step up anymore because he can't grip as well since I believe he had gotten use to have longer nails, all the better for gripping. And when he does step up his grip seems significantly weaker than before. I can't see anything wrong with his feet that might be bugging him other than having his nails trimmed.

The short answer is yes! The combination of a beak trim and nail trims can off their game for at least 48 hours. If a fair amount of nail was removed it can have their balance off for up to a week to 10 days.

Do a restart with building trust and also with 'Step-Up,'.

He still steps up on occasions and even waves his foot in the air saying "I wanna step up!" It's just when I offer my arm to him without him showing signs of wanting to step up that he gets nippy and stand offish when before that didn't happen.
He still climbs around the cage okay

Ok so ask him if he wants to step up? Ask and then offer your arm, sound encouraging with a little excitement in your voice and he is sure to want to.

I think this is where my Plum has learnt "come on then" and shouts it to me now LOL.
