Too much "regurgitation"?

For quite a while Sammy has done the "regurgitation head-bob" motion an exceptional amount. He's done this for the month and q half ive had him. The odd thing is that he never actually regurgitates anything at all. He will get pretty close it seems sometimes, where I begin hearing a rubbery sound and he licks a bit, but nothing has ever some out, not even a speck. I find this extremely odd because of the so many times he's done the motion. This worries me because I'm not sure if maybe something is blocked up? He is still young, however, if that has anything to do with it...

Hmm, seems not many people have this problem... That's slightly worrying. I'm going to bring him for his fist general checkup at an avian vet soon anyways, I'll inquire about it there

Peanut has been doing the same exact thing lately. She bobs her head and looks like she's going to regurgitate, but nothing comes out. She does it when she's around my hands so I move my hand away so she doesn't puke on it. Then after a few seconds she stops. Same thing though, nothing comes out when she does it.

now I never experienced regurgitating myself but I tried reading up on it. From what I can tell as long as it's not combined with other mating behaviours it's just a sign of affection, at least that's what the stuff I have read says. Of course I wouldn't encourage it so really I would ignore the behaviour entirely, hopefully he learns that regurgitating won't get anything from you and will look for other routes to show you he loves you

My GC Conure does this a lot when he's happy also. Sometimes he manages to bring something up... yuck. I know he's doing it because he loves us so much, but I wish there was some way to say, "Thanks but you can keep that food for yourself, Yoda!"

What do you mean by he's not bringing anything up? I know, it sounds obvious, but do you mean like something spreadable, or just chewable? Duke sometimes brings up enough to spread around or "feed" to something, and sometimes he just brings up a little something to chew on for himself.

Hmm, I never really thought about the fact that he may be just bringing up food to eat himself... But I never really saw anything in his beak that would indicate that. All I know is nothing came out of his beak, maybe he just stops himself since he does it with some cue, usually when I put my finger in front of his beak, which I've stopped doing recently in order to avoid infections.

LOL, maybe I'm lucky he's never gotten anything out... I've not gotten the pleasure of seeing, uh, whatever comes out...
