Quaker on a Rampage

I'm a first time bird owner with a two year old quaker parrot named Nyx who is the light of my life. He's goofy and lovable and a really great companion, but I've started having problems with him the last month.
I have five zebra finches as well, including two females, and I usually had them in their flight cage downstairs so they could spend time with the family and get some sunshine, but near the end of December, Nyx became obessed with them. He would fly onto their cage and scream at them, like he was trying to be part of their flock. He's three times the size, and three times as loud, and scared the crap out of them! As soon as you'd try and take him away, he'd just fly right back and do the same. It got so bad that Nyx started working himself up into a frenzy. I've moved the finches upstairs into my room, and that seems to help as long as he doesn't know where they are.
I looked online to what was up, and the best thing I could think of was that he is hormonal, and my finches are getting ready to breed, so he wanted in on it, but I'm not sure. Nothing we've done has really worked.
Does anyone know what's got his feathers in a knot? Is there anything I can do to make him more comfortable, and spare my eardrums just a bit? I'd really like to bring my finches back downstairs.

My guess is, unfortunately, the hormones. But, fortunately, they eventually pass into a 1X a year event. The first one is the worst and longest. Your Zebras may be upstairs for quite some time, unless you become desensitize to your Quakers angry voice. My opinion only, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

AH okay! I'm going to go with that, thank you! I was mostly worried that it was something else that I wasn't picking up on.

Quakers are huge flock birds also and very very social, they live in huge colonies and build massive hotel type nests for their flock. Theres every chance he wants to be part of whatever is going on with the finches. Sounds like he is flock calling and as long as he is near the finches he may always show this behaviour now, especialy at his age now as a young adult ready for mating ect. You may just have to keep them apart x

I attached a picture of my little scream bean sleeping in his favourite spot, which happens to be right in the way! Today was the best day we've had in a while! There was less flying around the house, and his attention was more on me. Less screaming and more snuggles! <3
