Do your birds mock you?

Occasionally Peanut gets in a mood where she wants to pinch me and when I tell her no or unh-uh she repeats unh-uh several times and then proceeds to pinch me on the back of my arm. So then I move her to my knee and tell her you're going to sit here and be a good bird and she tells me unh-uh again and comes back to pinch me or climbs down my leg and starts nipping at my ankles or feet if I don't have shoes on. It's like she's trying to torment me on purpose. Finally I have to get up and just walk away from her because it becomes so annoying. She's a little monster sometimes and I'm hoping it doesn't become a frequent thing. She's one year old now.

I can't think of any other pet that purposely tries to get on your nerves.

Ha Ha, mock me? Salty does it all the time. Coughs like me. Says "Yeah?" like me, esp, when I am trying to talk him into something. One might think he is 1/2 mocking bird. Make him special lunch, hand prepared by me personally, me,not Geri, and he will root around in his breakfast bowl,looking for a schnibble of Avicake. He is mocking me right now as I type, sitting on his boingy, looking all parrot-like. I know what's going on in there, Mr! There, there, he's doing again! Peek-a-Boo indeed. Your not fooing me buddy boy.

I don't think Lincoln intentionally does it but sometimes when I'm playing a game with my boyfriend and I'm getting frustrated with it Lincoln laughs at me.

I don't know where the term "bird brain" came from because they're quite intelligent. If I sit my bottled water or any drink down on the table she zooms in on it and will make her way over to intentionally knock it over and then say ut-oh. Ut-oh my ass.

I've always had dogs as pets and I think birds are way smarter lol. They're fascinating.

Some fun examples from you folks!

The Rickeybird mimics my obnoxious giggles at the most embarassing times, steals my straws and napkins, and yells NO before trying to nip me. Fortunately, he's not (yet) smart enough to figure out how I psychically predict his nipping intentions and thwart him!

Yoda most DEFINITELY mocks me!! He laughs at me when my husband is teasing me, he laughs with me when I tease my husband, and he laughs at both of us when he gets away with something. I'm also very certain that he intentionally goes into his cutest poses (nuzzling, chewing his foot, kissing) when he knows he is in trouble... OH! And he's also learned that if he squats and backs up as if he is going to poop, then he'll get immediately picked up and put on the nearest perch (which is usually his playgym where his food and toys are). This last one is particularly fiendish because we put him on the floor if he bites, then he does this to trick us into picking him right back up again and putting him somewhere he WANTS to be. He thinks he is smarter than we are... and I'm starting to think he's right!!!!

bahahaha I think its hilarious when they become lil stinkers. Perry (black capped conure) puffs up lately (hormones maybe?) when I come to his cage and is in attack mode. he makes little chatter noises when I talk to him and bites the crap out of me. He laughs afterwards. "HAHAHAHA" what a punk. When we leave the room he tries to get us to come back by saying a few phrases he has learned.

I can't get him out of the cage until he snaps out of it, he literally in a split second snaps out of it, and steps up. If I put my hand in too soon I get the hardest bite he has. Parrots are great huh?!

Oh, and don't worry, that's the top part of their cage. I call it the bonus room. It's part of an old budgie cage I zip tied to the top of their normal cage. They love it up there.

My bird is a schadenfreude. He laughs too, especially when he dive bombs my sisters toy poodle and throws things off his cage.

I talk silly like that to my parrot too. My son said I'm a weirdo. The parrot probably thinks I'm a weirdo too which would explain why she mocks me lol.

yea I think my gf thinks I'm crazy. I also thinks she is annoyed that I give my birds so many kisses, more than I give her... oops. I have a deep voice, and they def respond with more enthusiasm with whatever is going on when I use baby talk lol.

Okay story time, when my grandpa still had his Amazon parrot, Tuco, he would play a trick on me. (He still does it when I visit him too!) I would tell him "bye" and he would wait until I got out of the door to tell me "goodbye" back. He also mimiced crying children whenever one of my child relatives started crying!

As for my fids, Sharlett gave me a very short lecture when I came home from a trip the year I adopted them. She told me "NO!" And proceeded to chirp on if memory serves me! As for Data, the resident trickster bird, I know he mocks me! He says most things exactly like I say them and likes to pretend he can't talk when I try to get him to talk to people!

Kalani does it all the time.

I say "You're okay," if we are passing by something that may be frightening to him or if he has to do something unpleasant.

Well sometimes he will bite me and say "You're okay." or fly to me when I am busy and say "You're okay."
