Loveable the 13 week old loves me but

He won't step up readily. If I take him out he does not want to go back in and sort of wants to only nestle under my neck and get scratched.

If I try putting him back he runs right back over to me though and just wants to cuddle. I am only 10 days into knowing him and forming the bond which is going well and he needs about another 5 to 7 weeks before he is eating on his own. Considering he loves being on me once he gets on me, I suppose it should take some more weeks before he learns to step up? (I have only gotten birds that were at least 4 or 5 months old so maybe it just takes time for them?

You've bought a young unweaned baby? Or have I mis-read this? Because unless he's in a brooder with that many weeks left of hand-feeding (minimum, don't just take the formula away when it hits a time limit) he's nestling because he's freezing. Young babies can't regulate their heat which is why they need temperature control or their siblings to huddle up with.

I was thinking the same thing? Not weened at 13 weeks?

My GCC was weened at 12 weeks and came home with me then. But to address your other "concerns", my guy did the same thing. Always wanted to be with me, cuddled under my neck, laid on his back in my hand and goes to sleep. Would NEVER play on his stand just always wanted to be with me.

He is now 8 months old and although he still wants to be with me, his cuddling is not as important to him any longer. If he had his way, he would ride my shoulder all the time. He also loves to hang onto the front of my shirt as I walk around. Honestly, He acts more like a monkey than a bird.

No I haven't bought him just a down payment and he is still at the store. I said 5 to 7 weeks as an estimate even though he is being abundance weaned. Though back, he may take 3 months who knows. But I don't know why but I am getting confident he will be a smart bird
