New rescue- A few issues

Hey everyone so just rescued a B & G Macaw and he's having some issues. First off he started plucking his feathers before I got him and he's still doing it. Is there any thing I can do to help him besides making him comfortable and such?

The other issue is aggression. He'll let me pet him mostly on the back sometimes on the head though he's more cautious. He'll let me pet him maybe a stroke or two sometimes up to 6 or so before he makes a little cry and opens his beak towards me. Some times putting his beak on me finger or hand as a warning. I've been giving him some banana after he lets me pet him so he gets used to me and such. I guess just gotta keep at it.

So the plucking is the main issue. Going to get some aloe juice to mist on where he's plucked quite a few neck feathers to help heal.

Congrats on the rescue.

Take it slow and keep offering him treats. As for feather picking I use a product called feather in by avitec, plus with the colder months and the heat on I use a humidifier as well.

Keep us posted
