Our male GCC is coming up to seven years old; he's always been reasonably well tempered. He has occasionally tried getting it on with my hand, at which point I move it away. - he occasionally gets jiggy with his bed.

On one day in late December he suddenly bit my neck for no reason, and then my hand; it was a bit of a bloodbath for my fingers. For the next five days he couldn't be handled, as he'd step up and immediately bite the hand. I gave him some space and checked his manner every day.

During this period he was making the regurgitation motion and getting it on with his bed much more frequently, so it was obviously hormonal. He has since calmed down a great deal and can be handled.

His bed is open on both sides, and he gets 10-12 hours darkness a night, so I'm unsure what I can do to prevent this happening again. I suppose I can't complain about once in seven years.

Yep, tough times for your little one! Try using a separate sleep cage! Bed, happy hut? You may want to remove it, for safety reasons!

He's got one of those hard open-sided triangle beds, so I think that's ok. I'm a little loathed to change his sleeping routing as that's one of the things at which he's very good.

We only have to say "bed time", and by the time we're reached the light switch he's hopped into bed. :)
