Antisocial bird found a friend

Hey guys, to make things more clear:

I have an antisocial indian ringneck, she doesn’t like interacting and just likes being on her own, she doesn’t attack or minds us but when we play with her she just flies away again and stands on her own (any suggestions on how to make her like us?))

Anyways, I’m abroad because I need surgery. I’ve given her to my friend for 2 months now to take care of her until I’m back. My IR is alone and we don’t have any other pets but she never got along with my macaw.

My friend has a quacker parrot and they’ve gotten attached to each other and it seems like she is very active around him and likes to be around him vica versa. Now I feel bad about returning and separating them, I don’t want to upset them by separating them but I don’t really know what to do, will this have a big impact on her? I considered getting a bird friend but I know that isn’t a good idea because you never know if the birds end up liking each other or not..

I can’t take the quacker home either because he is attached to the family members but also to my parrot so its very sticky

I hope you can find a solution that makes everyone happy.

You can contact your local rescue and work with them finding a bird your bird likes. They should be willing to let you take different ones for a few days and see how they react to each other.

Well I think it's very special if she found a friend. Parrots are so social, and have a real need to connect. My two cents is if she is happy with the family and happy with her Quaker freind, and they are happy to keep her.......I'd let her stay with them.... Sometimes life just works out that way... If this had happened to me, it's what I would do, the happiness of her life would come firstly.
Infact it sort of happened to me but with a very expensive high end Sheltie I bought, trained, loved. He was a one if a kind, highly trained smart wonderful dog. But he and my mom just fell in love with eachother. He loved me fine, had a big heart but it was clear he choose my mom.

I live in the Middle East and unfortunately we don’t have any good rescue organisations most birds in the shops aren’t taken care of at all so that’s why most of them have behavioural problems

That’s something I’ve been thinking of doing, but she really is my baby and I’d be heartbroken i’m considering it though

Do the temporary guardians live near you? What about scheduling frequent play-dates for the friends?
