:grey: Jessie :grey:

Very very sad day here
I am absolutely heartbroken

Mishka's CAG girlfriend Jessie, has passed on
And gone to Rainbow Heaven.

Jessie was 17 years old.

She suffered from a serious liver problem.
Barbara and Cecil, her guardian's were holding her
When she took her last breath

So sorry for your loss, poor Mishka too. :(

I'm happy she had her paronts with her as she passed. I would have been even more heartbroken if my Wonsy had died when I wasn't there, it was nice to be able to reassure her it's okay, cuddle her etc. Sending hugs for all of you. xx

So sorry, I was hoping that she was improving.

I am so broken OMG, poor Barbara and Cecil, and Jessie, never to hear her talking again. Jessie was Barbara and Cecil last child..............

Jessie looked so well, she began eating properly, playing and whistling again. They took her to the vet on Thursday, Dr Brett said she was still seriously ill. We could not believe it. We thought she was recovering beautifully.

I swear Mishka knows something is wrong..... he is calling more for Jessie today, than any other day.

Boy that is not very long for a grey to live. So many things we give our birds effect the liver. This is why we tak our birds for a yearly vet exam. Please relay to these people and Mishka how sorry we are that this happened to their bird Jessie.

I have known Barbara and Cecil for over15 years now, every 4 months Jessie was taken to Brett, thoroughly checked out, tests done, and nails trimmed. Jessie had a nack of clipping her own wings (bit them off neatly) Brett was so impressed.
Jessie eat like a queen, healthy foods, pellets lots of fresh fruit and veggies daily.
I can't picture going there, and not seeing Jessie.
I was the only person she would kiss.
A piece of my heart was taken today

What an emotional morning...... went through to Barbara and Cecil. My heart is so broken, seeing them going through such a sad time. We cried, we laughed and cried and cried and cried. Spoke about all the things Jessie said and did. What she loved and disliked. Mishka was given Jessie's traveling cage, with toys OMG it is beautiful...... stacks of bowls, and Jessie's formula and food. They have decided not to get another bird. God forbid if anything ever happened to me Barbara and Cecil agreed they would become Mishka's guardian. I know he would be loved unconditionally and in the most capable hands ever.

I think sometimes that is the worst part, trying to explain to one of our animals what happened. Rowdy knew when Briana had the stroke that something bad happened to her. She was actually talking a lot the entire time I was with Bri, but I don't know if she realized Bri passed away or what that meant. She knew in the morning I put her in a box and took her away, but I don't know that she knew why. And Rowdy asking for her just broke my heart. I feel for you what this is like with Mishka right now. It's so very hard.

These wonderful creatures mourn their dead in the wild, and pick up on our emotions, as well. The day that my cockatoo, Snowflake, died, it seemed like all the birds were so much quieter than usual. And, I remember them not being in their usual playful mood. It was eerie then, and impressed me so that I have such vivid memories of that day.

Our birds definitely do pick up on our feelings. When something has happened, I become quiet, in my own world, thinking about it etc. Mishka will soften down his voice when talking (LoL he never really stops talking)
The day Jessie passed on, Mishka was on my lap, I was in tears, Mishka snuggled up to me, rubbing his head on my tummy, something he never ever does.

Soon I know he will ask me mommy where is Jessie, I am not ready for that......

Yes, how do you explain to an animal that their friend went to Heaven or whatever you believe? Rowdy was probably thinking, ok, so go get her! And the worst part was each day she became sadder instead of better. The only thing I could do was get her another parrot friend. As soon as I came in with Pete though she cheered right back up and was back to her normal self. I know you can't do that for Mishka though. We went 3 weeks before I found Pete, and Rowdy was hardly talking or playing or anything during that time. And of course she knew I kept crying as well, and was probably feeding off of me, too.

Grieving is so hard, and you really do feel pain like your heart actually did break. And then trying to explain to your other animals knowing they don't really understand what happened just makes it so much harder.

I am thinking of all of you during this very difficult time. I hope soon you all feel love and comfort in your hearts again.

So Mishka asked exactly what I was dreading Mommy where has Jessie gone
Well I was in tears once again (did not know I had anymore tears left)
I told him Jessie has gone to Rainbow Heaven.
He replied Jessie has gone to heaven mommy ...... so I was in tears again... Does it ever stop

I'm having the same problem w/Merlin. When Dawg died, I really thought of showing Merlin her body. I just couldn't do it. I wish I had, every day he is calling for her. He'll go from Bad Dog, & then he'll croon Good Dog, Here Dawg. He just doesnt understand what happened to her. We were watching the Dog Show on TV the other night & he started screaming & calling for her. He knows we are sad, but just doesnt understand what happened.
