Last night I did a blog post about my life with Mark. The short version, since 20 years is a long time to summarize.
Life goes on « Seven Trees Farm

I'm starting to feel better. I know Mark took some of my heart with her and even though we couldn't be right there for her very last minutes, we felt her spirit let go of this life while we sat waiting in the vet's waiting room.

Beautifully written and illustrated (even though I'm all choked up)!!!!

The picture of Mark bathing in the creek is simply PHENOMENAL! OMG, what a happy life he had! So blessed to have had you!

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing the blog.

AMAZING!

I feel your pain, the emptiness in your heart, and I am very sorry for your loss. :(

I feel bad that Mark's last sight of me was crying, but I know she was probably more worried about me being upset than herself.

Anytime I was upset enough to cry, she would get very concerned and want to comfort me by grooming. I didn't get to be with her at the very end, but the vet tech was really compassionate and said she went right to sleep. I hope her last thoughts were peaceful and not worried. I could feel her spirit leave, so no matter what I know she's not worried or fearful or sick anymore.

People talk about their birdy friends flying free once they're gone, but Mark was a lazy Quaker. I think her idea of heaven would be sitting on my shoulder, eating a snack and watching TV.

It's been one week, and I miss Mark terribly.
Lucky is really coming along as an only parrot, but she's not my Mark. I miss all her funny quirks and how comfortable we were together. I miss coming home from work and Mark waving hello. I miss putting on music and Mark headbanging and "singing" along. I miss playing fighter plane and wing tickles and taking a bow together. I miss being able to pick her up, tuck her under my chin, and walk around chatting....

Quakers are absolutely amazing birds to own. That was a wonderful story about Mark and I am sorry for your loss. I miss mine terribly everyday although it's been 5 years since his passing, I still miss him everyday....I'm sure Mark is watching over you right now wanting you to be happy.
