Jackie's necklace

Nothing fancy, but I made this today to remember Jackie by and so I can keep him close. The red feather was the last one he left me as he lay in my arms on that dreadful day. The ring has an inscription "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me", it's from my stepmom who passed away 3.5 yrs ago who endured so much pain and suffering in her lifetime that it taught me that no matter what happens, no matter what gets thrown at us- we can endure and draw strength from Him.

Thanks I don't think I'll wear it ALL the time, but at least I have something I can hold in my hands when I miss him.

What a wonderful gift you made for yourself to help remember your friend. It is very beautiful and inspiring.

Many years ago when I just had Mihjo my noble macaw I had a decorative fan made from his tail feathers. I still keep it hung on an oil of macaws in my bedroom. I made scrapbooks of Joaquin and Diego but not of Mihijo yet. His will get done soon.

I do have a shrine of my boys. I can never forget them and I have so many memories of them. The clinic made talon prints of each of my parrots so I have that along with a urn for each with their ashes with their names, hatch date and date of passing. Diego's and Mihjo's each have a saying. Over time I have put away a lot of the stuff I use to have on the shrine of their belongings but since a lot of that stuff is packed away now. I have my scrapbooks and their ashes and their talon prints. I miss my boys every day.



I offer you my condolences and understanding. Your arrival of your baby Galah will be bittersweet but this baby will help you heal like Valentino has helped me heal. I admit I still have a long way to go but that sharp pain of loss is more bearable with Valentino and Julio in my life.

I immediately welled with tears too. That is so beautiful, not just the sentiment but it is nicely crafted too. (I'm not super crafty, but i appreciate that skill in others.)

Noblemacaw, i have never seen bird foot prints before!! That is awesome. I have ink paw prints from Pablo (I was so grateful for them. The emergency vet clinic people never even met me before, but showed such compassion when i couldn't stop crying. They offered me a paw print....and then did all four.)
