I don't believe i'm writing this my Meyers parrot past away tonight!!...This morning she was her usual self playful and feisty....This evening when I got home she was normal as well I fed her and gave her fresh water...Then she began to eat as normal...Then 2 hours after feeding her I went in to take her out and she was lethargic eyes barely open and unable to perch well....Took her to emergency room vet who charged me 750 bux and she passed away 2 hours 15 minutes later....I want to get a necropsy done but they cost another 600 and I can't afford that after spending 750....I did everything I could to save her....I can't believe this happened...I wasn't prepared for this to happen....I just hope the other birds will be ok....The vet said she was almost certain it wasn't a communicable disease..she said he passed away of cardiac arrest....this is so so so hard.

She was almost 2 years old....I thought she was going to make it as she kept grabbing my hand with her beak in the car...Can't even sleep was looking forward to many many years with her...She left this world way too early!

I am so sorry for your loss, and my heart is breaking for you. You did everything you could for her and I am sure she knew how much she was loved and took comfort in that. I am just so very sorry

Oh Chad, I am so sorry I am quite familiar of the feelings of panic and helplessness you must have been feeling, and the sadness you are feeling now. I'm so so sorry. You should take a day for yourself, unless going to work will help take your mind off it

Chad, I'm so sorry for your loss. I can imagine with it being sudden and unexpected it is most difficult. She sounds so precious 'grabbing your hand'. I thought my little one was going to make it, too. She was having treatments for a week but then started failing. It is so heartbreaking. Hugs coming your way. If necropsy would make you feel better, see how much university would charge. Sincerely.

Thanks everyone for your kind words...I just spoke with my regular vet and she told me that the emergency vet should have never taken blood from her b/c of how weak she was.....that really makes me mad
