i also lost BOTH parents within a 36 hour period. Mom had end stage emphazema from smoking for the last 1 1/2 years she was on oxygen 24 hours a day, she was able to move and do things but it was a very short distance. i can hear mom cry sometimes because she knew how sick she was, she also was going blind she had what they called immaculate degeneration she was 76 due to be 77 on April 11th. it never came dad on other hand was outgoing never sitting still he was same age as mom born 5 days before mom he had a twin brother. dad had heart problems but it wasn't severe he was on medication. Anyway his birthday this year was on Easter Sunday the 5th. mom went into hospital sometime in march for real bad pains gallbladder but didn't want to be rescusitated or tube put down her throat to feed her, she knew she was going to die while dad was visiting her on April 1st he started to choke on peanut brittle. and an hour later he said he wasn't feeling well and being we were in hospital already visiting mom he was taken downstairs to er and it was determined he was having a heart attack. they put a pace maker in on April 2nd he died on April 3rd, we didn't tell mom she was dying on her own and we didn't want to lose her so quickly. it got to point that the only way we could tell mom was alive was by seeing her stomach move up n down from breathing we told hospice to stop her meds let her go if that is what her wish was. mom died with a smile on dads birthday as if he was there holding her hand. all her children 5 remaining alive and grandchildren traveled from all over to be with her on that final moment I miss her terribly but i know she is a better place, dad i cry every night I miss him so much.

BIG HUGS to you!

Often when couples who've been together for sometime, when one passes away, the other does so not too long afterwards.

That's hard especially around the holidays when we miss them even more it seems. I lost my mom in 2011 (on my husbands birthday), I wasn't able to be there for her passing, she died while I was on my way there. Had my Dad come and move in with us. He passed away 1 1/2 yrs after in a nursing home but we were all there for him, so both parents are gone.

Not sure how spiritual you are, for me I know I'll see them again. Know your parents are watching over you and are pain/sickness free! You'll see them again.

I am so deeply sorry for your losses. I couldn't imagine the heartache of losing two parents in such a short span of time.

My heart goes out to you and your family in this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to you. That is so heartbreaking to hear that you're going through this. Then your sister adding to it, how awful, I'm sorry.

I pray I can properly write out what I am trying to convey.
First, morbid! I sat with my mom while she died. I was with my dad as he died. I was with my daughter as she died, this was crushing, she had just lost her husband a few months earlier thru stupidity, two small children! Because of her illness, she was already decomposing as she died. Very ugly! Sorry! Do you get over this? At this point, I think never! But you fight to make it to the next day, and slowly start to find yourself laughing at something without crying!
My point, from my mom, death is only a translation and funerals are for the living! You either believe or not! Believe? Then death is only a loss to the living, because while we miss the passed, they are saying, cool, this is different! If you don't believe, then, who cares! Run the red light, treat your neighbors as dirt

Where am I at? This moment, knowing another daughter is about to come home, I am trying to pull it together!
