We got Tweety from a couple who kept him and his cage mate more or less as decorations - little or no interaction with them, just something to glance at in passing.
Unfortunately, we lost his cage mate immediately - the people insisted we just load the cage, birds & all, into the back of our car. We did so, but on arriving at home & opening the tailgate of the car, the cage fell apart & Tweety's mate flew off to the treetops, 120' up. He wasn't hand-tame, so he certainly wouldn't come to us, so we left the cage out in the driveway with Tweety, calling like crazy, but he wouldn't even come to him. Eventually, he was lost to sight, and not seen again.
Tweety's been a delight - always cheerful, always playful, and never obnoxious (unusual for a Lovie!). He ate lots, and was always happy to chatter with the other Lovies.
While we were away for a week, we had a sitter looking after our flock. The night we were boarding our flight to come back, we got a call from her, telling us that Tweety had suddenly passed. It was very strange, as he'd been twittering away, busily playing with his favorite brass bell. She went to the fridge to get him a pea pod, and when she returned to his cage, he was gone. It was a shock to us, as he was deeply loved, and only two years old.
I buried my little Tweety in the yard, in a small box, with his favorite toy brass bell. As I laid the box in the ground, I heard the little bell tinkle, one last time, and it about broke my heart.
Help me say farewell to my baby, wish him happiness, and pray he's flying free with his friends forever.

Hugs to you. He was a gorgeous bird and well loved in the short time you had him. At least you know you gave him a much better life while he was here with you. Rest in peace little one. Farewell....
