My house finch died yesterday, November 7th at 5 years old. He loved to sing along with the piano and eat spinach. I'll always miss you Zebra..rest in peace.

Thank you. My other bird, Juniper, flew onto his cage today. I feel like that's her way of saying goodbye. He was very old; some feathers were white. I feel horribly guilty; I was at a friend's and I never got to say goodbye to him.

It still seems like a bad dream. I feel like any minute now he'll burst into song and then I remember.

Rosella... please accept my sympathy and support. I had a canary for 9 years. When he passed, the silence was deafening, despite my Patagonian loudhorn's usual noise. I love finches. So dainty and quick and chirpy. I buried him outside the window where his cage had stood. I believe he returned to Nature, fertilized some berries there, and was enjoyed by wild finches, and soon was flying again, in spirit. *hugzszszszsz*

I'm sorry to hear that. When you say he loved to sing with the piano and eat spinach, it means you loved him enough to see him. I think that's what we all want...to be seen. Thank you for loving him, and for caring that he died, and for sharing his story with us.

None. My wife has one too many. Kidding!

I did the actual burying as my lady watched. I haven't cried much in my adult life but i did on that cold rainy Fall day. Fly free, finches.
