Lucky, Quaker, abt 18/male?
Previous birds: 2 Quakers, 2 budgies, Nanday conure, Indian ringneck, 2 tiels, Red Lory, 300+ finches.
I was digging through Lucky's toybox the other day and came across one of those toys with a recording chip with a button for the bird to push & hear the recording.
It came with Percy, an older quaker, who we adopted from her person when she couldn't care for her anymore due to declining health. I never really used it, since Percy and Lucky hit it off right away and Percy didn't seem too bummed about missing her person.
Percy died almost a year ago, but the toys and things she came with are still in my bird zone. So I pushed the button on the toy and heard the gal's voice saying 'love the birdie' in such a sweet tone I almost started crying. I feel weird donating it or throwing it away, but erasing the recording also feels weird. It feels like erasing Percy somehow. If I had known sooner I'd have buried it with Percy. Now it just makes me feel sad.

Any suggestions?

Keep it. Keep it as a little memento of Percy. Set it aside from the other toys as just a little memento. Idk it's what I do with a lot of things. I like keeping lil mementos xD

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
My condolences for your loss of Percy. Knowing it is available even if out of sight in a drawer, etc may bring comfort as you continue to grieve.

Donate it , in the Members Toy Exchange, and know that the toy will be used by another parront to develop a strong bond with their parrot.

Personally I'd keep it. But I keep the strangest things from my pets. Donating is a great gesture but it sounds imo that you needs this right now...maybe down the line you'll donate it. Remembering is a wonderful thing.
