RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Angel, my female Eclectus, passed Saturday afternoon. She had been diagnosed with heart failure 7 months ago, but had near normal quality of life thanks to aggressive treatment. I had created a thread as narrative to her care, and include a link should members seek similar for their fids.

We knew she was on borrowed time, but is always a shock. Angel was just shy of 29 years old, almost exactly half of my lifetime.

Oh Scott, I'm so very sorry you had to say goodby to your precious girl. I have always been so deeply touched by the love, attention and excellent quality care you give to all your feathered family members. Angel could not have had a better home or been loved more. I know your heart is breaking and you will feel the loss forever but you have all the sweet memories you shared over the years to comfort you. Deepest condolences to you and to Angel's friends and family. I'm here for you. Virtual hugs from my flock to yours.

Fly free Sweet Angel, forever loved and always remembered.

Scott, I am so sorry to hear this. Angel could not have received better care or more love, and my heart breaks for you. I have no doubt that she is waiting for you on the Rainbow Bridge, and will remain in your heart until you see her again. Hard to type through my tears.
Sending you much love, my Friend.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry Scott. Such a sad time on the forum. You were the first ekkie owner that gave me advice after I joined. I will always appreciate all your input and experience. Angel will always be in my thoughts, my heart goes out to you during this difficult time xxxxxxx

Centering on me for just a moment. I have such difficulties with the losses over the years, I have come to rely heavily on my Segment in the I Love Amazon Thread. May these words provide you the same comfort as it has for me over many years, my dear friend! Loving feather warmed hugs!

"“All of us feel such deep sadness when our Parrot friends die, and because they are Animals and not Humans, we are at a loss for words. Often, it is only other Parrot Owners who can understand the depth of the loss that we feel with this complex, loyal, and loving creature. Resulting from such a loss, I have placed feelings and emotions into words and found verse to console the loss of my Cleo and since her, other sweet Amazons, in turn; I hope it will speak for all of you.” - Steven

You left this world so quickly. I can hardly comprehend your leaving. Yet there, in my hands, your still body rested — no longer your home. So much I have learned, so much you have taught, your purpose a full measure beyond your size. Comprehensions of your loss still a mist but yet, I know you are whole and happy - now beyond Rainbow Bridge. And so busy you must be upon your green wings, guiding angles to those of us yet to cross. With in my ear, I still hear you, those special sweet sounds of comfort and contentment:

“Do not stand by my grave and weep my friend.
I am not here. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the gentle summer rain.
When you wake in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry my friend.
I am not there. I did not die.”

My pray for you my beloved feathered friend:

“May your body nourish this earth.
May your soul find release and contentment.
May you fly high and free upon wings of spirit.
Rest in peace little green one.”

The love and tender warmth of you is a un-full-fill-able void.
I do so much thank-you for creating a space for another, a special place next to yours’."

Oh Scott, how terrible. I wish I had something more comforting to say...there is nothing that can take the weight away except the passage of days, and they are heavy days. Take care of yourself.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Scott. The fact that it wasn't unexpected doesn't make it any easier to bear. I know this from personal experience. To honor those we have lost, my wife tells me we need to share the lost one's portion of our love among the others who continue to occupy our lives. It's so hard to deal with, nonetheless.

We all share your grief, Scott - we've been there, and we feel for you.

Fly free, Angel, and know you were deeply loved...

Oh my I've just seen this and I'm so very sorry! It's so very hard, even when we think we are prepared, we aren't. I hope in time the pain eases and you can have more smiles with the memories than tears.

Having had only one bird in my life, I can't help but take this so personally. And I only hope I can do this well by my precious Rb someday. You are such a mentor and solace to us here, Scott. Thank you for being you.

Scott I am sorry to hear this news. Love 'Boats words and take solace in them. And of course, I made a donation in Angels name to Cornell UNiveristy, earmarked for parrot related studies. Again, our condolences.

I'm saving that. I don't know if the big love we have for our feathered ones is measurable. I'm so sorry about Angel, but that seems to be a pretty good life spam due to your love and care no doubt.
