Well today, May 10th, it's been 2 years since my little Kiwiberry passed away.
I walked to her grave site from my new apartment to talk to her for a while and then I went to find some flowers to put on her grave.
It was hard to hold in the tears, I miss her so much... But I know she's having fun up in birdie heaven!

She was such a little goofball, always being silly. People loved her but she was so shy, always hiding on my shoulders, behind my neck, such a cutie!

Fly free, my love, my pride and my joy, I love you lots Kiwiberry

She was very young, when I adopted her, the lady wasn't sure how old she was, but she said 6-8 months, and I only got to have her for 7 months, but we'd both gotten so attached to each other, once she finally let me in, which took about 4 months, everything just hit like a storm and she only wanted to be wherever I was.

oh no... I looked through your posts from 2 years ago and came across what you had gone through. I didn't want to ask. That's awful. I lost my sun conure to an accident too and it was hard. I am not much for shedding tears but I cried and cried and cried. I had felt at fault. I still do. Have you been able to get another GCC?

Yeah I'm not much of a crier either but there was no not crying when this happened, it was horrible... I also still feel incredibly guilty.

No, I did however get an eclectus, but it was way too son and I wasn't ready, so he now lives with a great family close to where I grew up, and last time I heard, he has a girlfriend!
I honestly don't think I'll be quite ready anytime soon... But then again, will I ever be? Not sure when I'll take the next step.

Would you mind me asking what happened with your sun conure? Either way, I'm very sorry for your loss!

Unfortunately, I have quite a few little graves to tend. Such are the trials of anyone who keeps rescues, I'm afraid. Many come with baggage and health problems, and not all survive.

I may be a big, strong man, but I have to admit that I, too, choke up every, single time I tend the little graves of those I have lost. Sometimes (often), I break down and cry. I'm not too proud to admit it - such is the penalty for loving. The memories of each and every one of them holds me tight. I hope they never let go.

They say no one ever dies until their name is spoken for the very last time. I speak the names of all my little lost ones, and often. I hope that when I pass, others will speak my name, for a while at least.

Keep flying free, little Kiwiberry. Your name is still being spoken.

long story short, I bought peanut when he was about 3 years old from a lady in town. He could fly, and when I took him to get a wellness check from the vet, they talked me into clipping him. He ended up falling a lot after that and ended up at the vet once more after banging his head up but the vet said he should learn to glide soon and he was fine. I guess it was a week or two later and he fell again, this time on the baseboard heater causing a seizure and it ended up being fatal. He died before we even made it to the door for an emergency visit to the vet.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
I'm sorry, Sebastian. Your loyalty and willingness to embrace your memories of Kiwiberry is wonderful. One day, and you will know when, you'll have a feathered companion.

Oh no, that's horrible! :( I remember Kiwiberry had her wings clipped before I got her, the only time she'd step up before she was tame was when she'd ended up on the floor, she'd rush over to me but get off my finger just as quick, luckily never had any accidents though.

I'm sorry, Sebastian. Your loyalty and willingness to embrace your memories of Kiwiberry is wonderful. One day, and you will know when, you'll have a feathered companion.

Thank you Scott :)
One day!

Sebastian, I lost a feathered loved one and swore 'no more, cannot take the pain' but after Plum landed I realised I had missed so many years of feathered love, about 11 years. Maybe someone had a plan for Plum, who knows? Remember Kiwiberry yes but also think about trying to open your heart again to another? Things have a habit of happening if you are receptive. :)

Fly free little one, you are not forgotten.

That's a good point, I've been considering getting a fid when I move again, I'm currently looking for apartments so I can go to another school, circumstances aren't quite right yet, so I'd rather wait till I move to a bigger place.
But that's very true, I'll never forget Kiwiberry, and that's probably what's holding me back, it's not like I'm replacing her.

Don't even sweat it, you have a lot to think about and I've been very inactive here since she passed away. I'm also very sorry about Doolie :(
They sure are!
How are you holding up?
