... is Jess who passed 2/16, never got sick of me. He just kept liking me, didn't ditch me, didn't play games to try to get ride of me. He couldn't wait for me to get him out of his cage. He'd fly down the hallway and make a sharp left and land on my shoulder in the office. He'd laugh, I'd laugh and called me "Miss Spaghetti. No human being ever sustained affection for me like that.... now it's gone. I know I'm bringing out the violins. All this coming up suddenly. Guess I better go through it rather than around it.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
It is so hard to lose a companion parrot that offers unconditional love. It is a special and innocent sort most people will never experience.

I do look at the videos of when he was healthy and robust and the vet said "wow he is one strong parrot," had all normal labs and despite that began to fail about a year ago. Here's one of him, he liked sitting on his travel carrier and whistling away. Usually he did the call to post for the Derby more in tune.

They say you're never truly gone until your name is spoken for the last time. Jess will clearly be around for a long time.

From time to time, when I'm all alone, I'll recite the names of all my furred, feathered, and scaled friends I've lost over the many years, think of each of them & picture them, to keep their memories alive. It's a sign of love and respect...and you clearly love & respect little Jess. He will be proud.

It's gonna take awhile. Big hugs! Just remember that you had the love of a wonderful parrot. Not everyone can say that. It's so hard when it's gone.
