Timmy crossed over the Rainbow Bridge last night.

Those of you following my list of recent tragedies will understand how difficult a time I've had recently.

Last night didn't help. Little "Timmy" was our (my) only budgie. He was a rescue as he had a club foot, and the store couldn't/wouldn't sell him, so his future would have been extremely short. I named him "Timmy" after little Timmy in Dicken's "A Christmas Carol", because he was tiny and crippled, but had an indomitable spirit.

Despite being smaller than he should have been, and having a bad foot, he did well in my flock, chirping & singing with the rest of them & getting around just fine.

Last night, he had a bath, had something to eat, sat on his perch & whistled a bit, then sat quietly while the rest of the flock did the same. A few minutes later, I heard a soft "thump" from the living room, and even the dog recognized it as unusual and not normal. After a few minutes of investigating, I looked in Timmy's cage, and he was on the bottom, gone. If he'd even moved at all, I'd have heard him as there's paper lining the bottom of his cage. I think it was instant - one second he was happy & chirping, then next second he was gone.

I buried him next to the others who crossed over before him, with his own little slate marker & a tiny name plate I made for him on it. It may seem silly, but I visit them all from time to time & remember how much I loved them, and how much I miss them.

More tears.

He's the second of my flock to cross the bridge in the past couple of weeks, and the second grave & marker I've had to prepare. Recently, it seems like everyone & everything I've ever loved are leaving me.

Fly free, little Timmy. You may have been tiny, but you had big-bird love. I will never forget you, little one.

Thank you for sharing him with us. You were wonderful to him, and he returned the joy and love a hundred times over, just as the original Tiny Tim did for millions over the years. What a beautiful story. I'm so happy that we can help you celebrate and remember him.

Huge warm Amazon Feather Hugs and comforting prayers for you good friend. Life provides us years with too much grief than seems fair. Know that you, in your loneliest moments, are surrounded by friends that care.
We have a like place that is named Amazon Hill. A place that provides smiles, happy memories and warm tears. On the bad days, I remind myself that when its my turn, the greeting party will be comforting and that brings a smile to my face.

Oh so very sad. Hits you in the gut! I see a quick passing as a blessing, no suffering for the bird, we suffer the loss.....

Re: Timmy crossed over the Rainbow Bridge last night.

You loved Timmy and he knew it: he was a lucky little bird to be found by you and he chose to bring happiness to you in return. Even though your time together is over for now, the love is still there and you have the joy of knowing you shared little Timmy's life and made it a happy one. Try to think of the happiness and don't let grief overcome Timmy's memory, OK?

Sending warmest hugs tonight. XX
