1 year anniversary

Monday was the one-year anniversary of my sweet cockatiel, Kibble. I received her from a college roommate who no longer wanted her, and Kibble was one of the dearest bird friends I've ever had. She was a bird who didn't even discover "scritches" until shortly before I acquired her, and yet went on to be one of the most affectionate birds who has ever graced my flock... the only bird who has ever napped on my shoulder, which to this day I remember being just about the cutest possible thing.

She was bratty, mischievous, and incredibly good at destroying my things when I wasn't watching. With her - quiet meant trouble!

I miss her, my conure misses her (at least - I'd like to think she remembers Kibble fondly sometimes, they were dear friends), and there will always be a Kibble-shaped bloom in my heart. I won't say "hole" because my memory of her will never disappear, and I will always be better and more whole having her in my life for those too-short years.

She passed young, but she had numerous health issues in her time with me, including a mass that required surgical removal (my first surgery... and the day I sold my soul to Synchrony care credit...). I don't know what sort of condition took her from me, but I can only hope that the years she spent with me in her shortened life were the best ones. I was expecting many more, but was blessed for what I got.

Thank you Kibble, I hope your next lives are full of love & joy and may we cross paths again.

Re: 1 year anniversary

My deepest condolences for your loss of Kibble. Time may ease the pain but beautiful memories endure. Seems her life began with you, both shared an unconditional love.

Re: 1 year anniversary

Thinking of you on the painful anniversary of Kibble's loss.
You were a blessing to each other, and I'm so glad you found each other, even if for far too short a time.
As long as our loved ones live on in our memories, they are never truly gone. Thank you for sharing Kibble's story with us, where she now also resides in our memories.

Re: 1 year anniversary

Thank you both for your thoughts <3

It's been a rough few days but bittersweet, looking over my pictures of her has been nostalgic. It doesn't feel like it's been a year.
