Bacca (Quaker)
Yeah, they're all over Brooklyn College a few blocks from my sister-in-law's. She was amused that we have a Quaker in captivity when they have them in the "wild" there. My wife was saying that Bacca would probably freeze if she got out and I pointed her to those flocks.

It's a neat site, I had Bacca sitting on my shoulder when I played the mp3 they have of the wild birds. Sure got Bacca's attention to hear her relatives.

We humans like to equate the hardiness of our feathered friends with our own comfort levels...really unrealistic comparisons if you think about it ! ! !

As long as a regular source of food can be found and shelter is available or in the case of monk parakeets, the materials to build their own nests.....

Here in the UK we obviously do not have any indigenous species of parrot, though there are thousands of fossils of extinct European parrots. We do however have a few thousand Ringnecks that have colonised themselves. It's lovely to think of flocks of wild parrots living in Britain again. here's a link to clip from a documentary David Attenborough did on parakeets living in London. =)
