We have had 2 birds.

Sam (Quaker) 3 yrs old died 7/13/15.

Zoey (Sun Conure) 6 months.
Hello, I am reaching out to anyone out there that might have a quaker or sun conure they do not want anymore or can no longer give it the kind of attention it needs. We had a quaker for a couple of years it was my wife's bird and she was so attached to it spending time with him every single day, well this morning he died and its so heartbreaking to see my wife so heartbroken over the loss of her little fella. I really cant afford to just go buy another $450 dollar bird anymore so I am hoping someone out there would might have a similar experience and understand. I am hoping some person out there that has a caring heart will please help us.

We are a low income family and cant afford to buy anything, if u could see my wife and see shes very upset. I know its asking a lot just for u to just hand over a bird and get nothing in return. But i promise we will take good care of the bird and give it so much attention and love.

So if anyone out there in the Houston, TX, Tomball, or Katy area that would be willing to let my wife have a bird you no longer can take care of please let me know ASAP.

It tells me i half to have 20 post before I can PM anyone so im hoping I can get there soon. I would like to PM a person in Katy who found a lovable, cuddly sun conure but it wont allow me to.

Yes, you must have twenty posts before you can send private messages to members. There's a reason for that.

I sincerely do apologize I did not mean to break any rules or regulations. I am sorry for the post was just wanting to get to the 20 to be able to contact the person who lives n Katy, TX thats not very far from us and my wife actually grew up in that city. I am not a scammer, no spammer just a really bad and sad situation for us and wanted to reach out to this person and see if they would consider my wife taking over the sun conure they have.

Not to burst your bubble, but the sun conure isn't in Katy. The post just says Houston, and as I'm sure you're aware of, Houston can take hours to get across. I won't disclose the owner's location since it's not my place to, but she's not in Katy.

So sorry, how did your wife's buddy die?

Thanks, we appreciate it. Well she had him for about 3 yrs they bonded so well. No one else could get near or be around SAM but her it was like her best friend. Anyways my wife would always open the cage door where he would just step out and be right there normally he is on her shoulders. She would get is wings clip wasnt time to do it again but to make a long story short my wife was walking from our bedroom where sam was to the kitchen and sam was took off to find her and ran into a door and I guess broke his neck and my wife just lost it there started crying and was freaking out. I was in shock myself that something like that could happen so fast and be so lifeless when just a few mins before the bird was alive and chirping and saying pretty bird.

So everyone knows my wife is usually cautious and careful we turn all ceilin fans off, make sure windows are closed etc when sam was out and like I mention getting his wings clip on a normal basis, but on this day he was able to take off. Its just a sad situation that I can honestly say we have learned from.

Well I appreciate the feeback and I thought I seen her location next to her name say Katy, Tx But I know Houston like the back of my hand. You are right Houston is a big city, but we are willing to go anywhere within reason to bring home another little buddy for my wife if anyone has one they just cant give it the attention it needs due to no fault of your own but work, school or life changing reason believe me we definitely understand that.

I am so sorry to hear about your wives bird passing on in such a tragic and sudden way:( He sounds like he was well loved. Accidents can happen to even the most experienced owners. I hope you are able to find a new feathered family member.

Please have a look at local rescues, too. There are countless parrots up for adoption, looking for their new forever homes. :)

And of course, there's Craigslist, where many members here have landed some awesome deals. :)

Thank you so much as well, Yeah even being overly cautious still sometime isn't enough. He was definitely loved and spoiled to no end. You know its just hard to adapt or get use to it not being here anymore, no noise, chirping, it whistling or saying pretty bird my wife worked so hard to teach to say and it would laugh like my wife. When we train ourselves to the noise and get use to it to be no longer there is hard to get use to. Just like that in a blink of an eye poof just gone. I hate seeing my wife being sad and losing her best friend she spent so much time with Sam. We just cant afford to go out and buy another one and don't know how long it would be before we could.

:D In Houston, it can take hours to go five miles... on a bad hair day. Almost as bad as the 405 fwy in LA or the 55 fwy in Orange County, or the Bay Bridge commute in SF.

Thank you, I have searched craiglist and contacted several of them, but those have all been about money only. I have looked up a couple rescue places in our area. The place we got our last 2 birds Sam and Zoey have exceptional birds they both turned out fabulous so we would like to get 1 from there again if we dont get one given to us form some kind person here that knows exactly what were going thru. We just might half to keep saving and go to our usual place for birds just hard to get thru in the mean time.

I remember when I worked at some apartments back in 05 and got my first pekinese "Shelby" and she was our only pet back then and she got out. I couldnt sleep for days because she was always sleeping at my head on the headboard. It was incredibly hard to go thru that and this is probably not any different for my wife now.

Hi there, I lived in Tomball for a while but moved back to the south side. Have you contacted the Houston ASPCA? Last year they rescued a ton of birds in Santa Fe, however they may be able to give you names and contact info for bird rescues or fosters in the Houston area.

Ha ain't that the truth! Just took me 45 minutes to get from work in Cypress to home in north Katy! And that's on the outskirts of Houston...And to the OP, are you familiar with A Parrot's Cove? It's a nice bird store in Cypress and they're in the process of moving down the street. The owner is looking for help moving and I'm sure she'd work out a deal with you if you wanted to exchange help for a smaller parrot. She usually has quite a few conures, Quakers, cockatiels, etc.

I live in Cypress, but work in Sugar Land. It can be a pain to get across town, but if you go at the right times of day it's not too bad. I've lived here 16 years and have gotten used to the idea if it's under an hour it's not too bad and 1.5 isn't horrid.

My son helped one day in prep for that move. I got my first sennie from them.
