I've searched online many times but I can't seem to find many active Timneh breeders. I messaged around 3 i found in MI today, I'll list them here if that's allowed. I am willing to travel about ~10 hours or so for a quality one.. and I definitely prefer not to ship. I'm in south eastern Michigan but I've gone as far as western Wisconsin (which was a 14 hr drive total) to get my best friend a dog :p

I was considering adopting an adult, 17 years old, even though he hasn't been handled in a few years (he still gets out of his cage often, but has not been held since the current owner's brother moved out years ago) but after researching more on Greys I'm not entirely sure if it's the best idea. Not because of the age, or the fact that he might not be hand-tamed anymore, but because Greys tend to bond to only one person. I'm not experienced with anything larger than a Ringneck but I'd still be willing to try, if not for the bonding issue.. if the community here doesn't think it's the worst idea in the world I still might go through with it. (another issue is the rehoming fee is about the same price as a weaned baby, and it's firm so says the current owner)

Ideally i think i would prefer to have a baby but I would still like some opinions on the 17 year old. And of course some links to nice breeders :D

Thank you to everyone who read my ramblings :37:

Greys are really smart and since he hasn't been handled in awhile I think it's safe to say he isn't closely bonded with whoever feeds him. I'd say it doesn't hurt to try. At least then he'd be getting attention and he'll likely enjoy it and bond with you. Though I suggest maybe setting up a meeting with the bird before deciding to adopt him or not. So you can see how he is and what not.

You can try to get the owner to bring down the price since he isn't in the best conditions (unlikely very socialized, older ((not a bad thing but it's not the same as getting a baby)) and of course you'll have to see the condition of the bird)
