Good morning,
I have been searching for a mid-sized bird in need of a home for the last several months in Wichita, KS area and wanted to forward my situation along to you in case you should have any ideas or suggestions. I'm not in any great hurry (it's already been about 6 months) but I do want a good fit.

I'm in my 50s, so I won't last long enough to have a hatchling. My eldest daughter will be the caretaker when I am gone, and she has more preference than I do. She really would prefer an African Grey, but I know she would settle for an Amazon.

Importantly, we want something that would be willing to do basic things like step up. I don't really care about tricks, but I do want to feel safe around the bird, who will be in the room with me when I'm on the computer. I'm not a big fan of having a bird live on my shoulder, so I will have a play area that is about 18 inches from me where it will be able to see out the window (I have a farm with geese, guinea fowl, and chickens). My husband is interested in something he would find pleasant to be around, but he tolerates me and my feather fanatacism just fine. The cage would be in a room where the bird would be when we are at work - again, with an entire wall of windows so it can enjoy the sights of my free range outside birds.

So, that's my story. If you learn of a bird in need of a home, please let me know. Im not wealthy, but I will be able to get medical care when needed. I have a cage.

All the best -

Hi,
Craigslist is full of birds being re-home in my area, usually low prices...a d you always negotiate. Most of these birds are just with people who got in over their heads, a d just don't want to deal with the loudness and mess anymore. In the real world most parrots don't end up in a parrot rescue, they are just rehomed from people who don't want them on places like Craigslist.
In my area their are 14 Quakers, 6 sun conures, 3 green cheeck conures, 1 Amazon, 1 cockatoo, and 1 macaw looking for homes......they aren't giving them away but are selling them cheap, I consider them all rescues.
