Empty Nest!

I just found this after several searches for "parrot needs home" and the like. I thought after my last little pocket parrot died that I couldn't do it again. It is such an intimate relationship. Sometimes I would be getting into the car and realized he had hopped on as I passed his cage. Trying to go for a ride without getting caught. So used to having him on me. There is a perch in every room and cages front and back. A Sun Conure doesn't like to be left behind and if he thinks there is a chance he will let you know that you forgot him! I barely have anything to wear that doesn't have chew holes in it. Hurts like heck and searching for another dog isn't helping. I have a black lab that is trained to guard a bird. He doesn't know why he's left alone now.
I think you get the point. I'm a mess. I saw the post for the little rose breasted that needs a home. Perfect, plucking is just the sort of bird I love to calm and show how wonderful life can be. Organic oranges in an organic garden, we sit and eat grapes off the vine on summer mornings. We visit the birdfarm for toys and cut Manzanita for swings and ladders in the hills. But so far away. I sold one cage, then hauled the other back in the house. My alarm clock was my bird, "fowl" language is what you call a rascal of a bird. You know, turkey, chicken, silly goose, parrot-pot-pie! when you've had it.

The smaller birds, goffens, rose breasted, Conures, are what I can carry without aggravating an injury. I don't think it would be fair to have to limit my care of a bird because I chose one that is too large.
I am here because I don't want to live without a feathered friend who needs me. Doesn't have to be a perfect bird, but instead, a troubled bird who will live to trust again. For that I get complete devotion. Maybe my eyelashes cleaned.
If you have my next brokenheart and it needs a home please let me know. We will learn what he needs and give it to him.

We are a very long way from you, so I'm no help in that regard... But, remember to speak with your Avian Professional. It is not uncommon for them to be aware of Birds that are available. Also, check for a local Bird Club in your area, they maybe aware of a Bird looking for a home.

I did call my vet and they were very happy to take my name and number for their rehoming board. I guess That $1500 vet bill to save a 28 year old conure was an investment, lol. Gemini would be happy to know he helped by getting do darn sick. He was a very helpful bird. Made sure both the dog and two cats behaved. Only he was allowed in bed! I came out if the shower one day to see him guarding all three where he had coralled them in a corner of the living room. They all were sitting like little saints and Gemini was very irritated with me that he had to do so much work! He stalked off in a huff when I told him NO! Cranky old darling.
