Does anyone have any experience with hand raised Bourkes as pets? What kind of interactivity do they have as a companion bird?

My son would like to have one as he finds them to be a gorgeous bird. I know that they are a calm quiet bird which is perfect for him. The question is will they be willing to just sit on his shoulder and hang out or are they more independent and just want to do their own thing? Not looking for a cuddly bird that needs a lot of attention but one that has at least some level of interactivity.

I've handed raised bourkes, and they stay tame and friendly as long as they are interacted with. You are right in that they generally aren't a very cuddly bird, once they're out of the baby stage anyway. However, they do like to hang out with their people. Sometimes on your shoulder, sometimes in the middle of whatever your doing like on the computer monitor or the keyboard if they are feeling extra obnoxious.

I have a handfed bourkes, her name is Rosie and she is such a sweetheart who loves spending time with me. She sits on my shoulder, preens my hair, loves to interact and hang out with me doing whatever I’m doing. I’ve had a few tamed bourkes who’ve been wonderful. I highly recommend them!

Thanks for the positive response. Guess I'll be trying for tame Bourkes as the next addition.
