Hi, have a question about a day old lovebird. Parents will not feed. So i have been hand feeding. All was well until baby's 2nd feeding yesterday. She did not want to eat and seemed as if she was having trouble with her crop. I did not see any dropping from overnight, and this am she did not have any either. As well she did not want to eat except for a few drops. I plan on taking her to an aviary vet this evening , but is there anything i should do now. very worried!

If you are not an experienced hand feeder, see if the vet will take over her care as it is a really tough job where a lot can go wrong.

Good luck at the vet, please let us know how your baby makes out.

Call a breeder in your local bird club. They will be able to help you by either taking the babies and feeding them or giving you first-hand instruction in how it's done. Most breeders that belong to a club are more than happy to help a new hobbyist. I'm wishing your babies good luck. I fed out a three-day-old lovebird a couple of months ago and she's still alive and well. It's a lot of hard work but so very worth it.
