Hi guys, I thought you might like to follow along with our babies as they grow. There are 5 GCC babies who hatched over 7 days and are currently between 9 and 16 days old.
These are our first GCC babies, we had 1 clutch of cockatiels a few years ago but we didn't handrear those, these babies we are handrearing and they're going great.
The youngest 2 are definitely lagging behind the others in weight an milestones, Tika stopped feeding them so we had to pull them out for hand rearing before we'd intended too.
I'll include a few pictures from the last few weeks and then I'll come and update every few days.

So far they are all feeding very well, the eldest 3 have opened their eyes and started using them a lot more over the past few days, they have the beginnings on fuzzy feathers on them and are very active. The youngest 2 still have their baby fluff and don't look like they'll open their eyes for quite a while. The youngest 1 is much much smaller than the rest and I'm a little worried it isn't growing.
We're currently feeding at 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm, 10pm and checking them at 2am in case the little 2 are hungry and to make sure they're warm enough. I'm weighing them each morning before I feed them and today their weights were 33g, 32g, 30g, 19g and 10g. Baby number 5 has been 10g for the past 3 days and although it jumped from 5g to 10g after we started hand rearing it seems to have stalled in weight and development. It is also doing some weird head shaking and runs around with its beak on the ground, I'm currently working with our breeder to try and sort out what is going on. Outwardly it looks fine, it runs around with its siblings and feeds great, has a very very loud voice and gets right in there with the action so maybe it's just plateaued? Maybe we've bred a miniature GCC!
