So my conure pair spends 90% of their time in the nest box, and are totally silent. They spend almost no time outside besides eating, and occasionally exploring around, they're very skittish and will retreat to the nestbox if startled.

I check the nest box daily, make sure it's clean (which it is) and just get them used to me opening it. Besides their normal flock calls when they come out, I've been hearing some noises going on inside the nestbox, kind of soft screechy noises. Now I remember the noises Berry used to make with her toys, and it's similar to that.

Are conures much more private when it comes to mating? Are there any other signs I should be looking for before I see a possible egg belly? The hen hasn't plucked her belly yet, but she is spending more time in the box than the male, he's usually the one to come out and she stays in, but they are both eating pretty well, I make sure that she's eating too and dust her favorite fruit with a little calcium supplement once or twice a week, and she is nipping a bit at the cuttlebone.

Since they seem to crunch up the pellets to dust and eat while doing so, I've been offering them ground up pellets in a "mush" with some other foods to make sure they're getting enough variety and still getting enough vitamins, in addition to the two fresh food meals served which end up spread over the cage floor with a single bite or two taken out of each piece.

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
My two weren't...

Demitre didn't even care who was watching... there'd be a quick feeding and then he'd assume the position with her right there in the living room in front of everybody...

YEAH, THAT BIRD... I think he was an exhibitionist... so don't go by him.

They were quite active. I was actually surprised we didn't end up with any Dusk-Day conures... (Wonder what those would have looked like?!)

My two pairs were never caught mating by me, unlike my porn star cockatiels.

Sounds like a great name though!

Yeah, well, that little bird tried to violate my ear hole once...

(He should have been required to register!)

DEMITRE was in no way shape or form a "normal" bird. There were times when he was just PURE EVIL. And other times when he was as sweet as they come. (Suck up mode.)

He came to me with that name. We were the 5th home for those two, and were a home of last resort. They had conure spoiled bird syndrome BIG TIME!

I'm afraid of ever having to have the birds and the bees talk with any of my birds, mostly because they might get confused at the bees part.

I've never had conures mate, but back in the day when I raised cockatiels, they didn't care who was watching...man, woman or child!

Normal split cinnamon yellowside
Female offspring
