Formula is a completely different ball game from food. Does anyone have recommendations for the most Eclectus friendly formula?

The baby is still wanting 2-3 feeds per day and I want to be sure I'm choosing the best available. He is currently on Pretty Bird formula.

I don't personally know the answer to this one, Brittany, but I've moved your thread to this sub-forum in the hopes of getting you an answer. Hopefully one of our members more experienced with breeding and hand-feeding ekkies will weigh in.

I dont know about Ekkies but when I got PeterPan Quaker she was on 2-3 feeds a day and I was anxious to change her formula to one I could get more readily available here but I was advised against changing her formula by a number of breeders including her own as seemingly changing formulae can cause problems or so they advised me and said it was always best to raise the baby bird on the type of formula you begin with. Anyway we stuck to the same formula just in case and I didnt change it.

From what I've read, Pretty Bird is a good option and some people don't recommend changing it. Most formulas that I saw had some kind of oil which I also saw could be a problem. The only other thing I found was Mazuri's high energy formula.

It has probiotics and such in it as well, though I'm not a fan of the pigment, it's also a low iron formula.

How old's the baby now? You might be able to start introducing some fresh foods in between feedings to help you out! Even if he only plays with them and doesn't eat much.

Oh he gets 2 meals a day already. He is showing more and more interest in eating on his own but abundance weaning means still feeding on demand... So I'm his slave.

Looks like we will stick with Pretty Bird

Thank you for all the replies!
