I can't speak to the age question or anything specific about IRN, but.
I raised 2 clutches of babies with my Cockatiels. The hen was hand raised and very friendly with people. The father was not hand raised and does not like people.
Only real trouble I had was that both parents started plucking the feathers off of the babies after about 2 weeks.

That's a tough question to answer because you don't really know what is going to happen to the female, whether they'll breed successfully or not, whether the female will stop being friendly with people, whether they will treat the babies well, if they'll even like each other to begin with. It's all a guessing game. I think you have to go into it with the knowledge of what all the possible outcomes are, and weigh the risks. If you're very attached to your female and she is a loving, tame bird that loves you, I honestly wouldn't try to pair her up with a male that is strictly a breeder. She may really not understand why and the male may be aggressive towards her...I don't know, just my thoughts about a loving bird that I care about. If I was in your shoes and wanted a female IRN to breed with my untamed breeder male, I would get on www.birdbreeders.com and find a breeder female IRN, they're all over the place and need homes. Or a rescue that has an untamed female that needs a home.
