Hello all,

I have him for 8 days.
I have been told the bird is 30 days old if its true but idk.
Also the breeder instructed me to feed the bird 3 times in a day with 5 full syringes.
But he dont eat that much.
Although when his stomach is empty he eats 2 -3 full syringes 3 times a day.I think its not enough. He rejects to eat much than that.
I want to ask how many times and how much in a day i should feed him really ?

What temp is his brooder?
What temp is his formula?
Does his crop empty completely between feedings?
How many CCs is each syringe?
Is he eating any other food?
What formula are you using?

The breeder gave me some nutribird food when i get the bird.
I blend the food with water.
A full syringe is 5 ml.
I didnt give him any other food.
And his crop is completely empty between feedings.

What temp is his brooder and what temp is his formula? He definitely isn't eating enough and it sounds like it's very likely a temperature issue.

I dont know about the exact temperature.
But i try to cover his nest to keep him warm.
And the breeder didnt told me anything about the formula temp.
What temp they must be idk.

Ok temperature is VITAL for baby birds. You need to buy or build a proper brooder immediately. At that age he needs to be kept between 96-98 degrees F (35.6-36.7 C) any cooler and you are asking for his whole digestive system to slow down and cause his food to spoil inside him and poison him as well as weaken his entire immune system.

The formula needs to be between 104-108 degrees F (40-42.2 C). Any cooler and it won't be digested properly (and he likely won't be willing to eat enough anyway) and any hotter and you risk burning a hole in his crop.

Temperature is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING in my mind when it comes to raising parrots. I'm sorry the "breeder" was so cruel and irresponsible to send joy home without this knowledge. People like that care more about money than about the birds or their new families.

SilverSage gives some very good advice. It's important to stir the formula very well before checking the temp with a thermometer, because otherwise it could have hot spots. And the brooder must keep the baby at the right temperature so they don't overheat or use valuable energy to keep warm.

Thanks to you to reminding me that i should build a brooder.
Now i make sure he is warm enough.
And he also got more space now.
He eats better ,
