Hi, I went to uncover my tiels, and found and egg in the water, its her first and also my first time, what do I need to do with the egg in the water? And with her? Should I make a vet appointment?

Thank you!

Hilda

no worries really. If your tiel isn't interested in it just throw it away if she hasn't shown much interest.

If she is showing some interest place it at the bottom of the cage and let her do her thing. After a couple days she will get bored and lose interest which is a good time to get rid of it. As long as she's your only bird if she lays any more just let her get bored of them. you want to minimize the amount they lay and they will lay more eggs if you remove them straight away. If you have some cuttlebone use a knife to scrape some powder from it on her food so she gets extra calcium which she's using to make the eggs. the most dangerous thing for her is using up her calcium and getting egg-bound.

Because she has a another Tiel in the cage who I will assume is a boy I would make attempts to abort any babies that are in any eggs. this in short entails letting the parents out of the cage and once they're away giving each egg a strong shake. I advise against letting pets breed accidentally as it normally just ends up with heartbreak and stress for everyone involved but ultimately I can't stop you if you decide for babies. Just make sure to research before deciding.

She's a very pretty bird, if you could keep us updated on her it would be nice to see how she keeps up

What a beautiful girl!

I'm linking my article on hormone control for you. Some of it is geared towards a single bird but it applies to a bird kept in a pair as well. I've done my best to fill it with all the useful hormone control tricks I've learned over the years, and the subject is dear to my heart since my own childhood cockatiel died basically from laying too many eggs.

I noticed her vent dilated, my guess is she might just laid the egg just before I uncover them?

She was quiet almost all day,

As for handling hormones,
I have been changing her diet, giving less seeds and more pellets, and for the pellets I have tried different brands, found out they will eat inside cage the roudybush California blend, outside of cage, Harrison's and roudybush maintenance and zupreme fruity blend.
I have making the chop that @itzjbean made for her tiels, with less seeds.

Those are some good first steps but likely will not be enough. Please do read the article and follow all of the steps.

As of today, we started the hormonal control as @SilverSage suggested,
We put them to sleep at 7:00

As for the food they eat,
In the morning after shower (they shower with us) they have for breakfast the chop @itzjbean 's recipe
In the afternoon they have green beans, sweet peas (organic)
And thawed mixed corn and carrots, some baby greens salad

And at night, I gaved them again their part of the chop.

What should I stop feeding them?
The 2nd part of the chop?
Or the afternoon meal?

Oh, I did scraped cuttlebone in their breakfast and on their cage pellets

Thanks for your help!

Seed is the only thing I would cut out; the rest sounds spot on! Good job :)

Thanks!

Just to make sure, I can still feed them as usually?
Minus the seed of course

I do the three feedings because I do see them eating the pellets, but I feel they don't eat them as much

You should be fine as long as you are feeding low energy foods. Keep in mind an over abundance of food sends a strong signal that times are good to reproduce, but of course food always needs to be sufficient.

Found second egg, she laid it between 8:30 and 10:30

I'm boiling in it,

I have given less amount of food, rearranged cage, and sleeping hours from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am

make sure you return the egg after boiling it. If you just remove them then she may lay until she dies

Aborting the baby? Are you insane sir? Why would he ever consider aborting the poor fellow, thats just nuts and I hope he doesn’t result to aborting the poor chick.

Unless you are planning on breeding you should not breed birds. Inexperienced people breeding birds is causing more and more and more birds going into rescues to which you should be well aware are all fit to burst with the amount of birds in them. Is the solution really to just keep adding more and more?

It's not a baby bird yet, it's a zygote.

Just because you don't agree does not make me insane so how about you dismount your high horse

4th egg found

Don't keep pulling the eggs the second you see them. Doing so will make her lay more. They normally lay up to 6 eggs so expect to see about 2 more. But Like I say don't just pull the eggs when you see them or she'll just keep laying more
