hi we have an indian ringneck breeder wasnt sure of age as has so many he thought 8 weeks but im not sure still , he has feathers and preening starting to clean himself well but still very little feathers around neck which is why i thought he looks more 6-7 week .
anyway hes on neocare formula but absolutly refuses it yet he eats brocolli, millet, capsicum ( nibbles at all food)
i try him 3 times per day lucky to get 5 ml with 10 min effort.

do i give him water? do i drop to 2 feeds and see if it stimulates interest, he wakes in morning after 12 hour and still not wanting it.

i have handraised kings etc but never had hassles like this.
advice appreciated. thanks

What temp is the formula? What temp is the brooder? Is your syringe or spoon the same color and style as that which he was eating before? Are you using the same formula as the breeder? Are you letting him perch or stand flat? Is he losing, gaining, or maintaining his weight? Is his crop emptying? IF NOT GET TO A VET!!! If so, how long does it take? What is his activity like? Does he beg for food (head bob and cry) and then refuse, or just all out have no interest? How long have you had him, and had he been doing this the whole time? If not when did he start? Do you have other baby birds around? What about adult birds? Have you tried feeding him out of direct light?

SilverSage asks a lot of questions for a reason - there are a hundred ways for hand feeding to go wrong, and very few ways for it to go right. A baby like yours can die very easily from one of these mistakes. Take some time to answer the questions, and then you can be given good advice - but we have to know where you are and what’s going on ...
