It’s time for the annual ranting! Now that I have babies the nut jobs are speaking their minds again so...

NO I do not sell unweaned! No, not even for you! Not even if you watch YouTube videos! Not even if you want to pay “the whole weaned price”! Not even if you tell me you want to bond to it and you ignore me when I say that’s not how it works!

NO I can’t just wean the bird early! Not to accommodate your stupid convenience, I’m not going to abuse them for your schedule!

NO I can’t promise you the color and gender you want and rush you ahead of all the other people who have been waiting!

NO you can’t just have a bird because you have money; that’s what chain pet stores are for; these are MY BABIES and if you want one you have to convince ME that you are committed AND that you are a good match.

And finally YES you have to sign an adoption contract; that is in place to protect the birds after they leave my home. If you have plans to dump the bird and try to get your money back from him, go get a baby from someone else.

Ok I feel better now; you guys are great listeners! Tune in next year for basically the same rant all over again lol.

B&G Macaw, Galah, 5 cockatiels, 50 billion and a half budgies. We breed and do rescue. Too many to list each individual's name and age etc, but they are each individuals and loved dearly.
Glad people like you are out there. And my unweaned rescue lovebird agrees.

People suck. Even just breeding rats and guinea pigs I deal with all sorts of crazies, especially those who think I won't immediately know they are full of poo poo and just looking for reptile food. Grrrrrr I keep reptiles too, I get it, they gotta eat. But my fancy and spoiled pedigreed for generations handled from birth and fed homemade food rodents are not going to be someone's dinner. You would think the price of 20$/ rat and usually around 50$/ guinea pig would deter them, but no. People ask if I can give them the rat free or whatever else because of some complete hogwash story and are emailing from an address like "Vicious Vipers@ snake breeder and live feeder.net(not a real person who has emailed me, but I have had ones equally as obvious)" and think I won't catch on? Or asking to adopt ALL of my retired breeeders(I don't charge for these usually, they are around 8 months old and still have plenty of life left)? Yeah. Like I'm that dumb. Shove off.

Thanks for sharing. I have the utmost respect for you and the standards you hold in place for the safety of your birds. There is no shortage of ignorance on this planet....

Straight to the point, I like it :)
Thank you for having such strict rules. I wish other people and places had the same policies.

Exactly. I’m not dumb enough to think these people can’t get a baby from someone else, but I’m not responsible for THOSE babies, I’m responsible for THESE BABIES!

wait... what? Why would people want to pay that much for a meal for their snake? I pay a tenth of that for a meal for myself.

Some truly weird people out there. IMO I think selling of animals needs to be regulated far closer and with more scrutiny not just of the breeder but of the buyers too

Yeah, that's why I set the prices so high. It makes no sense to me. Pet store rats around here are usually 10-15$, frozen feeders are(depending on size) usually only a couple of bucks each. But I guess they think that they can feed me some bs story and get me to waive the fee since I am not a corporation? I don't understand the logic, but people do it.

Those freaking baby faces OMG! <3 <3 <3

I get a lot of people who think they can get me to give them my babies for a lowered or waived fee (not to feed them to snakes I assume), especially the fosters. I don’t think they understand how much money goes into rescuing an animal or into ethically raising one, no matter how tiny!

oh don't get me started with that. I frequently look on an adoption site here and the amount of people complaining saying they didn't get handed a bird the moment they "Paid their fee" is ridiculous. Constant messages telling these people they're donating money to a charity not buying a bird and they have to apply and may get rejected for adopting a certain bird.

Just yesterday I got another message asking “what’s your cheapest ringneck?” So I sent them my price list. Sometimes people come off weird at the beginning but are actually great, so I didn’t shut it down right away. Then they came back “ok so what’s the lowest you would go on the greens?” Uuuummm... the listed price. If you are raising so many birds you have to discount them in order to sell them, you are raising too many birds.
