I have read that many people here recommend course untreated pine or aspen shavings for the brooder box, but we do not have that easily available here.
I am currently using unscented, unbleached, paper pet bedding in the nest box but will be getting ready to move my green cheek conure babies to the brooder in a few days (1st hatched is 2 weeks today).
I am using an aquarium with a heating pad/blankets.
I have seen a few posts suggest just using newspaper and paper towels, but I am concerned that might risk splay leg.
Will the paper bedding cause any harm that I am not considering and if so what else would you recommend not being able to find the course pine shavings?
Also, I am reading a bunch of back and forth as to if it is necessary to add extra humidity to the brooder, any advice on this would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
PS: After they move to the brooder I will have a better chance for providing pictures for everyone if I can figure out how to add them.
