So I just got home from the bird fair. It was AMAZING!!!!! The vendors are very nice, but some of them I didnt like . There was one guy who said his parakeets were hand fed, but me being me I knew that didnt mean hand tame lol . I asked the guy to show me how hand tame it was so he took one out. It tried to fly away from him and he smacked the thing back towards him!!! Then he was saying "Yea they dont bite" while it was biting him lol! But then he grabbed it by the head and yelled bad at it

There were so many birds!! We were there for three hours!!

Anyways I guess I'll get on to my newest edition to my flock :Mr.Tum Tum!!

I was looking for a grey english budgie and walked up to a lady's stand. She shows birds and was looking to reduce her flock. She had different qualities and I found a BEAUTIFUL grey english budgie!!! It was top quality and she was willing to give it to me for 35$!!! I wanted him soooooo bad!!! we started talking and she started telling me how he was too young to breed yet and I told her I'm not looking for a breeder bird. Then we started talking about diet and I jumped in and boasted in the fact that I feed ZuPreem to my flock along with fresh fruits and veggies . She immediatly stopped talking to me and went to a cage and swooped up a bird. He was one of the lesser quality english budgies and she brought him to us. She explained that since she has such a big aviary she couldnt afford to feed her budgies zupreem, and since she couldnt feed them zupreem that little guy had formed fatty tumors.

She looked at me with this look, I'm not sure how to explain it. But she told me I could have him for FREE if I could feed him Zupreem!!

I was speechless for a bit, not sure if she was telling a joke, but she reassured me that she would give him to me! We went and bought a 7$ carrier and came back for him. He looks like he has a big tummy so thats why I named him Mr.Tum Tum

We dont have enough money for a vet visit yet cause we just came home and found out our chihuahua passed very sharp stones and he's bleeding. So we're trying to get a vet for him right now. We can tell this bill is gunna be big so imma save my own money to get Mr.Tum Tum a vet visit. He's in Quarantine now.

He's soo darn cute! Congratulations!

My gosh, I have 2 tiels and a Yellow Sided GCC...ya'll are making me want a keet! I've had a few in the past, I'm always entertained by them at the stores. But NO...NO MORE BIRDS for ME anyways.

Lovely story, it's such a wonderful feeling to "rescue" a pet.

I just went through a year long process rescuing 2 starving horses. My bestest friend in the whole world has them now and they are grateful, happy and fattening up as I type this. :)

Nothing more rewarding!

Good Luck with your gorgeous little Tum Tum :D

I'm glad you were there to take him in. He's gorgeous. It's pretty sad that her aviary is too big for her to afford Zupreem.

The Petsmart near our house has some lovely white budgies...that I'm forcing myself to forget about.

Keats (budgie) born Feb. 18, 2011, and Raphael (budgie) adopted July 3, 2011. Finn, a Brown-Head Poicephalus, born January 4, 2010, has also joined the family!
If she can't afford to feed her birds decent food, then she does have too many. At least she recognizes it. Glad Mr. Tum Tum has you now :)
