Hey everyone,
I just thought I'd give a quick update on these new tiel's we acquired.
They are WONDERFUL! Healthy, happy, eating and drinking good, chirping, preening, stretching and stools and feathers are perfect.
We've been working on making their cage a more stimulating environment for them and they are loving it! We still have a way to go, but we are definitely getting there. It's a HUGE cage!
They don't show in the pictures, but they also have 2 swings they absolutely love as well and a toy with a bell. Tiels just seem to love swings and bells.
Anyway, they are settling in so very nicely. When I sit and talk to them, they come right up to the cage bars and watch me. Today one of them was yawning really big...so I yawned back...then he yawned again as if he was copying me, so I continued to copy him. It was too funny!
The way this cage they came with is, (not really meant for tiels) I was having a hard time getting their cuttlebone to stay on the bars...so I slid it between the bars on the corner. Immediately the darker male went and started chewing on it. Then I looked and he had his head through the bars chewing on the other side, cracked me up...the grass is always greener syndrome.
I haven't yet named them but am leaning toward Lucky and Chance as I think they are both males. As much as I want to handle them, I don't want to clip their wings just yet so I spend a lot of time just sitting with them, eating with them, talking to them, offering "treats" or my finger for scritches...so far everything but the treats and scritches is acceptable to them.
Anyway, so far, this rehoming rescue has been very successful.
I'll update here again in a few weeks.
Toni
