Red face Cockatiel and ringneck parakeet?

Hey you all!!
Im new here, and for the beginning I want to apologise for my not so good english.
I have a beautiful female cockatiel about 4 years old. She is more or less tame. I mean, she really likes me and loves to cuddle, but sometimes she just wants to be left alone. She is really gentle and not aggressive at all.
And the reason Im writing this all is.. Well, this is my first year of college, and although Im in an apartment with my bf and most of the time at least one of us is home, when we learn Emma is alone and bored, so I want to get her some company. My bf would really like some bird which is easy to train so we thought of an Indian ringneck parakeet.
Could anyone please give me some advice on having those two different birds together? Can I even keep them in the same cage (if i would get myself a ringneck i would buy a much bigger cage)? Is there any danger for my cockatiel since ringneck has a bigger beak? Or any other advice. Please. I really want to know as much as possible before i get another bird.
Thank you.

From what I have read all you will be able to keep with the cockatiel are budgies and other cockatiels. I doubt that the tiel and ringneck would have problems playing together under supervision, and will likely enjoy talking to each other from their respective cages.

I've read that greencheeck conures are easy to train and are really cuddly and affectionate if thats what he's looking for? they aren't loud either as a Indian ringneck wouldn't cuddle as much but they are known for being really good talkers. whats ever you pick i would deffinatly buy the new bird his own cage.

Re: Cockatiel and ringneck parakeet?

He would really like a bird that could learn to talk easier. His second wish is to train him. My cockatiel is a really cuddly but quiet one, so thats something we already have..
Thank you.. I will buy a new cage for the parkeet and wait a few moths to see how they act together, and than decide if Ill try to put them together or not..

You could check out lineolated parakeets too. They are a little more laid back than regular parakeets and could probably be kept with a cocketiel. They are cuddly little clowns and can learn to speak. Here are my two boys.

Re: Cockatiel and ringneck parakeet?

I will be honest with you, Ringnecks can be really unpredictable.I think like most birds actually, but their beaks can do serious damage, if a ringneck was to get one bite on a tiel it could be devastating, so in being cautious I'd say to never house those types of birds together.

I only say this.. because I see how strong Damien is, he's brought me to tears so many times with his bites, I know how terrible I'd feel if he ever got hold of my finches.

Budgies and Tiels are really fun to train, so get your tiel one of them as a friend it's a lot safer!
